ROLL CALL: Chairman Lord called the meeting to order at 7:05 P.M. <br />PRESENT: Chairman B. Lord, Board Members; D. Lind, L. VanAuken, K. O'Rourke, M. Davis, <br />P. Bark:er; G. Corell, J. Lang _ <br />ABSEr1T: J. Dailey <br />ALSO :PRESENT: Law Director, J. Dubelko <br />Mrs. Lord suggested they change the, order of the agenda in order to have Mr. Dubelko swear in the <br />newest member of the Landmarks Comrriission, Mr. Joe Lang. At the last meeting, they received the <br />resignation of Mr. Smeraldi, after many years of serving the commission so well. She said they are very <br />pleased that Council has seen fit to appoint Mr. Lang to the Landmarks Commission. Mr. Dubelko then <br />swore in Mr. Lang. <br />II. REVEEW AND CORRECTION OF MINTJTES: The Landmarks Commission minutes of the March 11, <br />2002 rneeting have been submitted for approval. L. VanAuken made a motion to approve the minutes as <br />submitted. The motion was seconded by M. Davis and unanimously approved. <br />IIT NEW FjUSINESS: <br />? Doisg Ford to addYess the commission on moving a house that is on the site of the new library <br />Mr:;. Lord indicated Mr. Ford was interested in one of the homes being taken for the library. She said <br />he asked to address the cominission on his'ideas for moving the house and saving it from demolition. <br />He has had to change his decision. 5he suagested that Mr. Lang fill everyone in, in case they did not <br />hear the information before the meeting got started. Mr. Lang indicated Mr. Ford had done research <br />on -two possibilities. The first being to move the house to a lot for two homes on Kennedy Ridge. <br />Secondly, if the house met certain criteria and could be placed on the OHI in a timely fashion, it may <br />qualify for funds to assist in the move. He said in the meantime Mr. Ford had spoken to Mr. <br />Dubelko, the Law Director, and Mr. Thomas, the Service Director, to gain access to the house so he <br />can see if it would be satisfactory to live in. He visited the house last week and determined it was not <br />satisfactory for his needs. Mr. Ford appeared tonight prior to the meeting to request he be removed <br />frorn the agenda for that reason. Mrs. O'Rourke asked which house he was interested in. Mr. Lang <br />indicated it is the very large gray house immediately across from the middle school. There was <br />disrussion of houses in that area. Mrs. O'Rourke asked about the cost of the house. Mr. Lang said <br />the high-end estimate of moving it on Butternut Ridge, up to the area around. Kennedy Ridge, was <br />$25,000. That was just for moving it and placing it in a prepared area. Mrs. Lord said that Mr. Ford <br />indicated there are a lot of things inside the home that made it appealing. Mrs. Lord asked Mr. <br />Dubelko what the estimated demolition time might be (Mr. Dubelko could not be heard on the tape as <br />he iNas in the back of the room). Mrs. Lord said if anyone has contacts, or -knows anyone who might <br />wairt to hear this story, share it now. She pointed out if there are salvage rights, it would have to be <br />negotiated. Mr. Dubelko shared further information about the city's rights. Mrs. Lord said they have <br />heard many different dates for when construction will actually start on the library. She asked if Mr. <br />Dubelko had any dates (Mr. Dubelko could not be heard on the tape). Mrs. Lord pointed out that <br />the Landmarks Commission had beeri asked on several occasions to be a part of talks with the <br />arclutect on the project because of the historic nature of the whole triangle area.
