board. Mrs. Lord suggested that if Mr. Tobin or Mr. Pohlid run across anything that the board should have
access to, they are welcome to drop it off at the Office of Commissions. Mr. Lang said the clerk needs to
send a written notice to Mr. Pohlid 15 days prior to September 29t1i. Mr. Tobin informed the board that he
can also be contacted at hoine if they require more information. Mr. Lang said since the meeting began,
there have been some arrivals. He pointed out Mr. Kula and Mr. Halleen are present. He asked if Mr.
Kula or W. Halleen would like to speak. Mr. Halleen said he understood the notice to mean the board
would discuss what findings they came up with. Mr. Lang said the agenda indicates there would be an
informational update for commission members on the Halleen application. He said for the record, on this
past Saturday, September 6th, Mrs. Lord, Mr. Barker, Mr. Dubowski, and Mr. Lang gained entrance to the
structure at 27706 Lorain Road, referred to as Rebecca's Floral Shop, for examination of the interior of the
buildina. During that time, they found it to be in good repair. He said it is possibly worthy of pursuit of
utilization and salvage if arrangements can be made for such. He asked for other comments on what was
seen in the building. Mr. Barker said he was very impressed with the inside of the building. He
coinmented the upstairs apartment was generous in space and surprising. He hopes they can come to some
conclusion and acquire the building and move it because he does not think a lot of work is required to
revainp it once it is hopefully moved. Mr. Dubowski said he was surprised as well by the upstairs. Mr.
Barker pointed out there is water dripping into the basement. Mr. Halleen indicated the water department
shut the water off. Mr. Barker said where the valve is to shut it off, it needs a cap or something because
the basement is becoming a puddle. He pointed out they were also able to meet with Dr. Barry and see a
bit of his building. Dr. Barry informed them he has blue prints of the original building and he gave a
verbal history of the building. Dr. Barry also told the visiting board members that he would acquire the
prints and provide copies. He has pictures of the building from the past that he can get copies of as well.
Mr. Barker said they had a very interesting conversation. Mr. Lang said that not all of the board members
were able to attend the Saturday site visit so the meeting tonight was designed to be an exchange of
information as to what they saw and heard. Mr. Lang explained why the Halleen proposal was listed under
Old Business. Mr. Halleen indicated he thought he was supposed to be present for the meeting. He added
that the previous agenda item took quite a long time. Mr. Barker said that in the future they may be able to
adjust the agenda if they know a proposal is coming back. He suggested that if Mr. Halleen has
information that he has acquired that he share it with the board members also. For example, if he had any
hits as far as moving the house or selling it. Mr. Halleen said he did not put a sign up to sell it or move it
mainly because he was interested in finding out what the commission determined. He said he would be
willing to put up such a sign. Mr. Lang said they have made a request of a house mover to get an idea of
the cost of moving that building. He would guess the possible estimate may also include reinstallation of
the building in another location. He said he hopes to have that information in a relatively short period of
time. Mr. O'Malley said he believes the subject was raised at the last meeting concerning the property
owner possibly finding a buyer and he recalls they thought it was made clear that no stone should be left
unturned. W. Barker asked Mr. Halleen if he has any estimates as far as demolition of the two buildings.
Mr. Halleen said he does not have that information yet.
2. Ms Michelle Marquette - A real estate agent representiWpotential buver o,f propertv at northeast corner
of Lorain and Barton (Barton Road Church)
Chairman Lang said he received a fax indicating that Ms. Marquette aslced to withdraw her request to
appear before the board.
V. COM1VIUNICATIOloTS:
Memorandum from Bryan OMalley regarding Library Demolition Contract Specifications - Mr. Lang
reviewed the memorandum. He commented that the board's recollection that the foundation be removed as
intact as possible and stored for use at the new library site is correct, it is just that the results are a bit
different than they anticipated.
Letter to resident regarding minutes from the Augzcst meeting pertaining to the Halleen proposals - Mr.
Lang read the letter into the records.
4
