waiting until all members are present to split the list. The board members agreed to wait until next
month to split the list. Mr. Barker said that he, Mrs. Lord, and Mr. Dubowski met on February 22°d to
organize and clean out files. It was a productive work session. He happened to go through articles
spanning three decades and one thing that he found interesting was that in 1969, the Cleveland Press
had a headline, "Homes to Soon be Over $50,000 and 60 Year Mortgages." He said there was a fear
that young people starting out would never be able to afford homes. He said in 1971 our water rates
went up from $4.75 to $6.95. He pointed out that since 1971, in 30 years, our sewer rates have gone
up 800% because we are around $38 a thousand cubic feet. There was a paper-clipped packet of
articles from Broward County in Florida, from The Florida News in 1974. He is not certain of the
origin of that material. Mr. Barker indicated he put everything in decade order by years. Mrs. Lord
mentioned they also received the files and news clippings of former Mayor Ralph Christman when he
moved from North Olmsted to Port Clinton. She said if they were to start a clippings file, perhaps they
could set it up by decade. Mr. Barker said there is nothing older than 1967. Mrs. Lord asked if the
board members would like to set up another work session, as they were able to accomplish quite a bit
this last time. The members agreed to have a work session on March 22"d from 9:30-11:30. Mrs. Lord
asked that Mrs. Kilbane contact the members that are not present to advise them of the session.
Mr. Dubowski mentioned the article about Bay Village participating in the Heritage Home Loan
Program. He pointed out the article indicates Bay Village paid $7,500. It was his understanding the
cost is $5,000. Mrs. Lord asked if there has been any word on the budget. Mr. Barker said he thinks it
was approved, at least no one questioned it. Mrs. Lord pointed out no one has informed them. Mrs.
Lord reminded all the members to review the CLG information very carefully so they can have a good
discussion about it at the next meeting. The distribution of tasks for step one of the self-guided tour
will be on the agenda for next month as well.
VI. OLD BUSINESS: The board members discussed the information that is sent to new residents. Mrs.
Lord indicated the board looked at the first page of the original brochure and determined the
information is obsolete. They then looked at the next two pages and they changed the procedure for
application. The criterion is all right but the procedure is now different. Mr. Barker asked if it is only
residents of the historic district that receive the information. Mrs. Lord said it is not just Butternut
residents. She said the information is included in the new resident packets. Mr. Barker asked if all
new residents receive a packet. Mrs. Lord said she would like the Clerk of Commissions to advise the
board as to who receives the information. She would also like to find out the date of the ordinance
because it is her belief the date is wrong. She believes the original brochure was written up in 1976 or
1977 as part of the bicentennial. Mr. Dailey said the picture that is used is not sufficient. There are so
inany great pictures of old homes in North Olmsted and perhaps those can be used. He said he would
be willing to recreate them for use on the brochure. Mr. Barker suggested imposing the plaque. Mrs.
Lord said they could take a picture of the plaque on one of the historic homes or even Old Town Hall.
Mrs. Davis said that she believes there is a picture of Old Town Hall on a disc that someone sketched
from the photographs.
M. Davis made a motion to accept the brochure with a new picture. The motion was seconded by P.
Barker and unanimously approved.
VII. ADJOURNMENT: M. Davis made a motion to adjourn the meeting. The motion was seconded by T.
Dubowski and?Mimously approved. Vice Chairman Lord adjourned the meeting at 8:30 p.m.

Betty?,/ord, Vice
Annie Kilbane, As?istant Clerk of Commissions
2
