? <br />the local schools. Mrs. App strongly felt that Mrs. Beach would be the best member to <br />represent them at councils committee meeting. Discussion regarding the news articles that <br />had been in the local papers over the past week took place. The commissioners were upset at <br />the inaccuracy of the articles and felt that the issue was being misrepresented as well as the <br />individuals involved. Mrs. Beach questioned if she should craft a memo to submit or attend. <br />Mr. Garland felt that both would be good. <br />IV. OLD BUSINESS: <br />1. Continued discussion of the status of the Commission <br />Mrs. App indicated that she was upset that the commission had not received any responses <br />from the Mayor or Council regarding their report, which was sent out November 14, 2003. <br />They had questions concerning the old library, and old town hall being used as a small <br />theater. All the commissioners concerns were thoroughly outlined in the packets released. <br />Mrs. Beach felt that more time should be allowed to make sure everyone reads the report. <br />2. Proj ects <br />Mrs. Martindale indicated that she has not been able to secure a place for the summer plays. <br />She was informed that she couldn't use the Recreation Center room, as it is not available. <br />There is a handy cap class that will be using the room throughout the summer. Mrs. App <br />questioned what would be needed to have the play. Mrs. Martindale reviewed what she <br />would need to have the performance. The commission would like to find out about the use of <br />the old town hall for the Dover Players performances. Mrs. Rote indicated that she would <br />speak to the secretary who schedules old town hall to see what dates are opened. <br />B. App motion to have to City allow, Dover Players performers be allowed at no charge <br />to perform their production in Old Town Hall which would include the rehearsals and <br />performances. This would demonstrate the viability of turning old town hall into a <br />permanent home for the Dover Players group. They require an answer within one <br />week. L. Beach seconded the motion, which was unanimously approved. <br />4. Fundraising <br />Mrs. Beach voiced that if the City is mandating the Cultural Activities Commission bring the <br />arts to the City then they need to provide us the funds to fulfill their task. Other communities <br />have theaters and other diverse cultural activities within their communities because they <br />support the arts. <br />5. What other west side committees are doing <br />Discussion regarding the church at the corner of Lorain and Barton Road took place. It was <br />discussed that Landmarks was trying to speak to the owners to see if they would restore the <br />church, as it is historical. <br />V. COMMUNICATIONS: <br />2
