vote, he would like to add to the motion that if Cingular and O.D.O.T., both, do not have
representatives present at the next meeting, they do not entertain the issue until they can be present.
1dIr. Koeth said it will be added. Mrs. Colette Aclams came forward and said her time is more
valuable than to sit here and spend 2 hours and 20 minutes to wait to hear from O.D.O.T. because that
was the issue with the commission, they wanted to hear from O.D.O.T., or it would have gotten voted
down last time. She said she appreciates Mr. Hreha adding to the motion so they won't have to go
through this again if O.D.O.T. does not show up. Clearly, it looks as though they don't care about the
residents. She also made the point that when talking about the south side of I-480, it may be a better
side, but you are still talking about residents. She said most of the residents present tonight are on the
south side. She said it is not an option. She hopes that is considered when looking at other options.
She mentioned Bradley Woods, and pastures in Olmsted Falls, as alternatives. She said the residents
on the south side care enough that they don't want the tower on the north side either. Mrs. Marilyn
Maruscsak came forward and said as a licensed realtor for the State of Ohio, she can say right now
that already with I-480 going through North Olmsted, people look at the freeway and say it is adverse
to them moving into the city. She has heard potential buyers say they do not want a house by a
freeway. She said for some reason that does not bother people who move into Rocky River, or
Westlake, or Lakewood. She said that for some reason North Olmsted has gotten a bad wrap because
of the freeway. She said her house backs directly up to the freeway exit ramp. She has not had any
problems with it. She said the sound barrier that was put in is disgusting. She would rather not have it.
She added that if a tower is put by the freeway exit, she guarantees there will people looking at North
Olmsted and looking toward the developments there, who will see that tower and they won't like it,
along with the residents there. She does not want it in her backyard. She said they all agree that
towers have to be put somewhere for cellular service, but as everyone here has said, it is certainly
much better to put it on the right of way by the high-tension wires or even a 1/4-mile to the west of the
Stearns Road exit where the industrial parkway is. She said it can go in at Bradley Woods where they
can hide a large tower. She said a 190-foot, or 150-foot tower by this freeway exit is going to look
gross and disgusting along with the out building. She said she would also question the safety of
residents going on or off that exit in bad weather. It is certainly not the smartest location. Her house is
not far from the proposed site. She said putting it on the south side is not going to happen, it never
will. She will park herself there first before anybody will put it there.
Final Reanarks
Mr. Satarawala said he wants to be sure he heard the residents and wants to confirm that at the next
meeting, O.D.O.T. and Cingular have to have employees present. 1VIr. Koeth indicated the board
would like to see Mr. Kovitch. Mr. Satarawala asked if it would be Mr. Kovitch and another
employee. Mr. Koeth said yes, perhaps someone from the marketing department. Mr. Satarawala
said he would like to confirm that they need to look at two different locations to cover the hole they
have. Mr. Koeth suggested more if possible. Mr. Satarawala said they can look primarily at the
high-tension wire areas and those were the recommendations he heard. Mr. Koeth reminded hiin to
look at the industrial parkway and the Bradley Woods area. Mr. Satarawala asked if the board
definitely does not want them to consider the south side of the highway either because the residents
have opposed that too. Mr. O'Malley said he would discourage this discussion as it is backtracking
over the course of an entire meeting where there were a lot of comments made and now the applicant
would isolate or pin the board down in a car salesman's technique to hold them to some perimeters. He
said he thinks the commission made it clear it is asking the applicant to explore the available locations.
And now he is asking the board to be more specific or repeat what has been said. 1VIr. Satarawala
said he just wanted to confirm it. Mr. Koeth said perhaps Mr. Conway can help or maybe if the
Cingular people or Mr. Kovitch need to talk to them in the next month or so, they can be available for
any other suggestions. That is something that can be worked out. He said Mr. Satarawala would have
to go through the Office of Commissions. Mr. Koeth indicated he would be happy to talk to
somebody. Mr. Koeth pointed out that Mr. Hreha's comments will be added to the motion. There was
11
