a ? <br />requested that the applicants place landscaping around the light to hide if from view. The <br />applicants agreed to hide the light with landscaping. <br />R. Koeth moved to approve Woodpath Development 5ign Lighting at Gessner & <br />Woodpath Road with the recomanendation that the applicants include shrubbery to hide <br />the light. S. Hoff-Smith seconded the motion which was unanimously approved <br />VI. NEW BUSINESS <br />1. Peqper Joe's Restaurant; 24532 Lorain Road: <br />Proposal consists of railing material being changed from power coated aluminum & glass to <br />treated lumber and pipe rails. <br />Chairman Koeth called all interested parties forward to review the request and asked for the <br />department reports. Mr. George the owner and Mr. Margulies the architect came forward to <br />review the plans. Ms. Wenger indicated that the Architectural Review Board reviewed the <br />proposed change as Planning Commission requested and approved the proposal with the <br />following conditions; : 1). Along the south fagade there will be planters added in front of <br />both sides of the entry stairs. It will consist of a 2-foot high continuous versa lock retaining <br />wall system of a buff sandstone color. 2). The planter itself will have 90% evergreen planting <br />materials. 3). 2' x 12' timbers can be used on the north side of the retaining wall to terminate <br />the planter. 4). The handi-cap railing system proposed should be bronze or dark bronze in <br />color along with the framing system for the proposed awning. 5). The existing railing system <br />should be stained pickled white throughout. 6). The asphalt pavement is to be dug up to <br />accommodate the planters. The applicants indicated that they incorporate all the <br />Architectural Review Boards recommendations. The applicants thought that using a pickled <br />white stain would help soften the deck. Assistant Building Commissioner questioned if the <br />applicant would be placing an irrigation system in the planter boxes as it is required by code. <br />Planning Commission felt that the applicant should irrigate the planter boxes as required by <br />code. The applicant agreed to irrigate the planter boxes. The board questioned when the <br />curing time would be up on the deck. The applicant stated they just needed 4 more months <br />then the decking system could be stained. <br />R. Koeth moved to approve Pepper Joe's Restaurant of 24532 Lorain Road as submitted <br />with the addition that the planter beds are to be irrigated and that in four months the <br />decking system is to be stained. The conditions from the Architectural Review Board <br />meeting dated June 16, 2004 are to be followed. W. Spalding seconded the motion which <br />was unanimously approved. <br />2. Clague Road United Church of Christ; 3650 Clague Road: <br />Proposal consists of an extension of a conditional use to modify the current use to allow <br />offices for the Deaf & Deaf Blind Committee on Human Rights. <br />Chairman Koeth called all interested parties forward to review the.request and asked for the <br />department reports. Pastor Stenzel and Mr. Carlton the chairman of trustees came forward to <br />review the request. The church would like to convert a 12' x 14' classroom into an office for <br />the Deaf & Deaf Blind Committee. There will be one full time employee and two part-time <br />employees. Planning Director Wenger reviewed that the church received a conditional use <br />permit for religious activities in a residential district. Now that the applicant is modifying the <br />use they require an extension or expansion of the conditional use permit. Conditional Use <br />2
