To: Kim Wenger, Planning Director
From: Planning Commission Chairman Bob Koeth
Re: Shadow Wood Traffic Analysis
Date: September 26, 2004
Kim,
I would like Shadow Wood to do another traffic analysis. The one used on June 13, 2001 is three years
old and is not a"true day" for this intersection..
The study was done when school was out, the soccer fields were not being used and during "vacation
time" for families.
I would like a study done on a Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday now through the end of October, when
travel and in house soccer teams are practicing from 5- 7:30 p.m. at the fields.
The soccer fields are used from April through the second week in June, then from August through the end
of October with games and practices seven days a week.
During these times cars can be stacked up from this intersection all the way up to Lorain Road with
people coming home and parents taking kids to the soccer fields. If it is stacked up, cars will travel to the
Timber Trails Development to Wild Oak Drive and Bradley. This is how I see these people in the cluster
development getting to Lorain Road cutting through.
For verification, you can talk to the Gareau's who live on Barton Road or Mr. O'Malley who lives off of
Barton Road.
Relief of the traffic congestion will come when Crocker-Stearns is completed. Until this happens, there
will be problems at this intersection.
In the mornings - 7:00 a.m. - 9:00 a.m., traffic gets stacked from this intersection to Lorain Road. I have
turned on to Barton Road and had to wait 10 minutes before getting to Lorain Road. Cars are sometimes
backed up to my house on Bradley on occasions in the morning with the school busses.
The developer needs to know that the NOSO Cup held for 4 days during July 4`h with
90 -100 soccer teams will add traffic and cars parking down the development's street. When the parking
lot gets full, overflow goes to Wild Oak and if possible, down the street.
Let's get a true traffic study and make the correct solutions at this intersection before we add 52 more
homes and traffic to this area.
Bob Koeth
8
