trees will be removed. She explained that it is up to the City Forester as to what trees will be removed as
he is the one who issues the permit. As far as drainage issues the applicants must follow code and
maintain their water on their own site. Regarding the mound and fencing area in the north-west corner
along Linda Drive she will look into the matter to see what can be done, but final approval has already
been given.
B. Zergott motion to request Carnegie Management use highway grass, crown vegetation, or green
erosion control plantings on the homeowner's sade of the mounds. J. Nader seconded the motion
which was unanimously approved.
V. NEW BUSINESS:
1. North Olmsted Librarv; 27403 Lorain itoad:
Proposal consists of constructing a fence along east side of property line between North Olmsted Service
garage and the Library.
Chairman Zergott called all interested parties forward to review the request. City Engineer Durbin
reviewed that the city would like to place a fence along the mound between City Hall and the Library.
There are pedestrians cutting through the garage and construction area and large trucks, buses and
construction vehicles are such that a pedestrian would not be seen. For the safety of the City and
pedestrians the area iieeds to be fenced. There will be two types of fencing systems used. One will be
an opaque vinyl type in the area of the service garage and an aluminum rail system transitioned in, which
will continue to the front of the site and blend into the style of fencing at the Library now. To help the
transition from vinyl to aluminum railing brick columns will be used. The caps on the vinyl fencing will
be flat as well as the aluminum railing.
J. 1\Tader moved to approve the North Olmsted Library of 27403 Lorain Road their request which
consists of constructing a fence along the east side property line between the service garage and the
library as subinitted. J. Crook seconded the motion which was unanemously approved.
2. DSW (OYd Kids R Lfs Building); Great Northern Shopping Center:
Proposal consists of a new front fagade and interior remodeling.
Chairman Zergott called all interested parties forward to review the request. Mr. Ports of Ports Architect
came forward to review the proposal. The new store will encompass the old Kids R Us store and a
portion of the mobile phone store. They will replace the entire front of the two store fonts and the new
store will receive a proto type DSW fagade. The masonry brick will match that of the existing shopping
center. They will have signature glass windows with wood framing and the 5 awnings will be black and
white striped. The entrance will have 6 metal columns under the store sign. The top fascia will be
e.f.i.s. and the color will match the existing center. There will be medallions placed on either side of the
store sign. All roof top units will be hidden from view. There are currently two planter boxes in front of
the store which are maintained by the owner and there will be no new landscaping added. The entrance
sign will kick out about one foot. The board requested that because the rear loading dock area was
exposed they would like a landscaping bed placed to close offthe view with plants thereby buffering the
neighbors. They suggested the applicant look at the landscape bed behind Applebee's for ideas.
J.
