"TOGETHER WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE" <br />ARCffiTECTURAL REVIEW BOARD <br />COUNCII.S CONFERENCE ROOM <br />JUATE 16, 2004 <br />MINUTES <br />1. ROLL CALL: <br />Chairman Zergott called the meeting to order at 5:30 p.m. <br />PRESENT: Chairman B. Zergott, Board members; J. Nader and J. Crook. <br />ALSO PRESENT: Planning Director K. Wenger, Building Commissioner D. Conway and <br />Clerk of Commissions D. Rote. <br />II. REVIEW AND CORRECTION OF NIINTJTES: <br />The Architectural Review Board minutes dated May 19, 2004 are submitted for approval. <br />Mrs. Nader indicated that on page one third to last sentence should read Applicant agreed <br />to add a flowerbed on either side of entrance drive. The next sentence should read parapet <br />wall be raised an additional 12-inches to help block the roof view. <br />J. Crook motion to approve the May 19, 2004 Architectural Review Board minutes <br />dated May 19, 2004 as corrected. J. Nader seconded the motion, which was <br />unanimously approved. <br />III. SIGNS: <br />M. OLD BUSINESS: <br />IV. NEW BUSINESS: <br />Peuuer Joe's Restaurant; 24532 Lorain Road: <br />Proposal consists of railing material being changed from power coated aluminum & glass <br />to treated lumber and pipe rails. <br />Chairman Zergott called all interested parties forward to review the proposal. Mr. George <br />the owner was present to review the proposal. The applicant reviewed that he requested <br />two minor changes one was to comply with ADA requirements and the other was to be <br />allowed to use treated wood. ADA requires a continuous railing system so the front <br />entrance had to be changed. The change to be ADA compliant was approved under minor <br />change however the railing system was not. They first thought the wood railing was <br />approved so it was installed then the Building Department informed them it had been <br />denietl. With the current financial situation of galvanized steal pricing going up he can not <br />afford to do the galvanized system. They have spent $6,000 thousand in the wood decking <br />system. The height of the clecking is 6-feet from ground to top of the railing. The <br />applicants plan on staining the deck with a pickle stain once it has cured. The board was <br />not sure how changing the railing system would improve the appearance. The board
