J . <br />CITY OF NORTH OLM5TED <br />"TOGETHER WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE" <br />ARCffiTECTURAL REVICW BOARD <br />COUNCIL CHAMBERS <br />APRIL 21, 2004 <br />MINUTES <br />I. ROLL CALL: <br />Chairman Zergott called the meeting to order at 5:30 p.m. <br />PRESENT: Chairman B. Zergott and Board member J. Crook <br />ALSO PRESENT: Planning Director K Wenger, Assistant Law Director B. O'Malley, <br />Building Commissioner D. Conway, and Clerk of Commissions D. Rote. <br />ABSENT: Board member J. Nader <br />U. REVIEW AND CORRECTION OF 1VIINUTES: <br />The Architectural Review Board minutes dated March 18, 2004 are submitted for approval. <br />J. Crook moved to approve the Architectural Review Board minutes dated March 18, <br />2004 as written. B. Zergott seconded the motion, which was unanimously approved. <br />M. SIGNS: <br />IV. OLD BUSINESS: <br />V. NEW BUSINESS: <br />1. Laketec Communications; (PP# 235-07-009,010), 27881 Lorain Road: <br />Proposal consists of a new canopy at the front entrance. <br />Chairman Zergott called all interested parties forward to review the proposal. Mr. Little the <br />owner came forward to review the plans. Mr. Little said that a canopy is being added to <br />enhance the front of the building. The column color will match the building and the shingles <br />of the canopy roof will match building shingles. The dumpster will be located in the south <br />east corner of the site. The existing lights along the front of the site will be removed as well <br />as a cement area along the entrance. Landscaping will replace the cement area and include <br />the new ground sign. Down lights will be used under the canopy and the hours of operation <br />will be 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. One front pole light will remain on all night for security <br />reasons. A brief discussion of the owner leasing the baok part of lot to Ganley motors for <br />temporary storage of vehicles took place. The applicant advised the board that the posts of <br />the board on board fence were not cemented in place so they are currently reinstalling all the <br />posts and securing them in cement. The applicant indicated that he would try to power wash <br />the graffiti off of KFC's walls first before requesting the neighbor address the wall. The <br />board requested detailed landscaping plans. They requested small sporadic landscape <br />islands be placed throughout the front parking lot. Instead, of planting grass, planting beds <br />along the front of the site should be created and low plants that are salt tolerant used. There <br />are to be ornamental trees added along the north west side of the site, starting at the front of <br />the building moving north 20 feet. The board requested the dumpster area be placed in the <br />south east corner inline with the rear of the building and be board on board fencing with a
