?
1. Continued discussion of the status of the Commission.
Mrs. App reviewed the Commissions goals and what they have been doing to reach that goal
for Mr. Yustick. The Commission would welcome any suggestions Mr. Yustick has and
invited him to continue attending their monthly meetings.
2. Continued discussion regarding Dover Players performance.
Mrs. App reviewed that they will be working with the players club so they can have a
production in June and incorporate an art display. Mr. Yustick indicated he would be willing
to help the commission. Mrs. Martindale reviewed that the director Jim will attend the
commissions next meeting. They have not decided which play they will perform. She would
like to see the artwork displayed fit the period of the play that is performed. She suggested
having Mrs. Birney put together, a small group of student's maybe a musical quartet to
incorporate all the arts. She thought a donation jar set out would be better than working with
tickets. She believes the choice of the play would be chosen no later than the March meeting.
The Dover Players Club will take care of the finances for the play, but the display walls may
need to be provided or made. The commission will extend an invitation to all of Council and
the administration and ask that they RSVP so they can guarantee them seats. The idea of
having tents outside while the play is running for more art or refreshments was discussed.
V. COMMUNICATIONS:
1. Discussion regarding the redistribution of the Cultural Activities Report to the Mayor,
Council and Board of Education.
1dIr. Garland reviewed that he attended the February 3, 2004 Council meeting to find out
why the Commission had not received a response to their report, which was distributed twice.
He indicated that Council was not sure whom to address a response. He suggested that it was
mentioned that the City Planner would be looking at some of their topics as she is updating
the Master Plan. He reviewed that Council discussed the lack of funds as well as replacing
firehouse two. He also suggested a fitness center, new middle school, as well as a cultural art
building. He believes that Gouncil may respond yet to their report. There was also brief
discussion regarding a senior center in the future. The commission hopes that the City and
School system can work together.
VI. CONIlVIITTEE REPORTS:
The next meeting the Commission will discuss timelines and meet some individuals that will
be producing the play. The Commission will listen to a CD that the Mayor and W. Garland
received from singer Antoinette Tredanary at the next meeting. IVIrse Martinclale advised
that most of the work for the play starts after auditions are held. She will have a Mystery
Dinner in March or April 16'h & 17th 2004 to raise additional money.
VII. ADJOiJRN1VIENT:
G. Thompson motioea to adjourn the meeting at 8:20 p.m. D.
