Mr. Lang reviewed that there was a meeting with Halleen and recommendations were made
but it has not been officially submitted. Mrs. Lord questioned if the Halleen proposal needs
to return to Landmarks for anything as the 6 months has long passed. Mr. O'Malley advised
that the historical building in the landmark district should be compared to any other proposal
that would go before the landmarks. If the applicant develops the area within the historical
district it will come before landmarks. However, that is not to say that the demolition is to go
before landmarlcs again as it has already come before landmarks. He has not discussed the
issue with the building commissioner as of yet but will. The only reason the demolition has
not been completed is because the permit is not to be granted until a development proposal
has been approved. Mr. O'Malley believes that when a proposal is submitted it will go to the
Architectural Review Board then to Landmarks for review. The board discussed the
aesthetics of the Lexus dealership entrance which has green space and looks very inviting vs.
the Halleen KIA dealership which is all asphalt.
Mr. O'Malley wanted to congratulate board member Schumann for the press release and
volunteer gathering for the work they did at the Barton Road Church and the good job they
did trimming the overgrowth and saving the stain glass windows. The article in the paper
will help the cause to raise the monies required to move the Church. Mr. Lang indicated
that there was just enough volunteers that no one was in the way and the windows came out
easily and without any mishaps to the windows or frames. The windows will be mended
and replaced into the Church once it is moved to the museum. It was found that there were
stained glass windows in the bell tower that was covered by siding. Mr. Lang thanked the
sites program volunteers for their help cleaning the area up.
Mr. Barker indicated that a veteran approached him and asked if the City is responsible to
place the flags on all the veterans' graves at city owned cemeteries or was it a responsibility
of Landinarks. Mrs. Lord thought the American Legions did that. Mr. Barker indicated that
there was not an American Legions in North Olmsted. The commissioners thought that if
the cemetery is under the control of the service department that they should be the ones
placing the flags on the veterans' graves. Mrs. Lord thought it would be a good project for
the boy scouts or sites students. Mr. Barlcer indicated that the veteran who approached him
was told that it is the charge of the Landmarks commission to provide the list of veterans
buried in the city cemeteries. Mr. Lang thought that the Clerk of Council is the holder of the
records of who is buried in the cemeteries.
VIII. ADJOURNIVIENT:
T. Schock moved to adjourn the meeting. P. Barker seconded the motion, which was
unanimously approved.
l/l,9/0
Chairman
4
Rote, Clerk of Commissions
