Cleveland Restoration e-mail November 2004 newsletter- Chairman Lang reviewed that <br />pages l, 2, and 3 discussed present emerging thinking on schools, especially since the Board <br />of Education is discussing renovations to the middle school which is in the historic district. <br />He is in constant communication with the board of education members to make sure they <br />keep the front fagade. Regarding Historic Tax Credit - He's not sure whether the legislation <br />passed but it increases the ante from 10% to the 2 5 % for the value put into the building, on <br />historical commercial properties which is through the federal government. Other articles are: <br />How to pick a contractor, website of HGTV generation renovation premiered last week and <br />Restore America. <br />C. Chairman Lang submitted an article from the Cleveland Plain Dealer about the restoring of <br />homes in the Glenville area and a response from a woman from the Cleveland Restoration <br />Society about restoring old homes at a reasonable cost. Mr. Lang informed the Committee <br />that the magazines are for their use and the other material is for their files <br />D. National Trust articles <br />E. Perspectives Fa112004 issue No. 17 <br />Mr. Lang advised the Committee that the finalized Resident letter which included the printout <br />of the Secretary of Interiors Standards was mailed out to all residents on Butternut Ridge Road. <br />The clerk provided each member a list of all addresses which received the packets as well as a <br />copy of the letter. Mr. Lang stated that since the letter was released he has heard from one of the <br />homeowners who thanlced him for the information. Mrs. Davis stated that she has had a couple <br />of phone calls and a few people have stopped her on the street to talk to her about the packets. <br />Mr. Lang advised that he spoke to a young woman (Mss Russo) who was trying to find out how <br />she could get a copy of a picture she saw at Bob Evens of the Lake Side Court House, he put her <br />in touch with the Western Reserve Historical Society, or Cleveland Landmarks Historical <br />Society. <br />VI. COMMITTEE REPORTS: <br />VII. OLD BUSINESS: <br />Mr. Schock spoke with Assistant Law Director O'Malley regarding Rebecca's Florist receiving <br />a demolition permit or not. He was going to check to see if they needed to go back through the <br />process again as it states in the ordinance that the permit is only good for 6 months but he had <br />not heard back from Mr. O'Malley. Chairman Lang thanked Mr. Schock for the reminder, and <br />would look into it. Mr. Lang indicated that the Planning Director (Ms. Wenger) scheduled a <br />meeting with KIA and asked for one representative from each of the following commissions; <br />Landmark's Commission, Architectural Review Board, Planning Commission and the Building <br />Department. Mr. Halleen and his architect presented a proposal which included parking spaces <br />at the corner which was turned down by everyone present. At the end of the meeting they <br />suggested they would provide the Landmarks with plans for their December meeting but as to <br />2
