ROLL CAL,L: <br />Chairman Lang called the meeting to order at 7:06 pm. <br />PRESENT: Chairman J. Lang; Board members P. Barker, T. Schock, D. Rerko, P. Schumann, R. <br />Koeth, and M. Davis. <br />ALSO PRESENT: <br />ABSENT: Board members G. Nashar and B. Lord. <br />II. REVIEVV AND CORRECTI0N OF MINUTES: <br />The minutes of the August 9, 2004 Landmarks Commission meeting have been submitted for <br />approva.l. <br />Mr. Lang requested the word (another) be changed to (in other) on page two of the minutes. On <br />page three (Les Strong home) is incorrect it should read (Lustron home). <br />P. Barker moved to approve the August 9, 2004 Landffiarks minutes as corrected. D. Rerko <br />seconded tlae motion which was unanimously approved. <br />III. RECEPTIOleT OF VISITOItS: <br />Student Anthony Passafiume was presented to the commission. Mr. Lang reviewed that <br />Anthony was assigned to Landmarks for the fall through the Sites Program at the North Olmsted <br />High School. Anthony reviewed that he is a senior at the high school and he chose to get <br />involved with Landmarks as he is obsessed with history and is eager to work with the <br />commission to learn about the historical homes in North Olmsted. <br />IY. NEW BUSINESS: <br />Mr. Koeth questioned if Landmarks contacted homeowners along Butternut Ridge road that have <br />their homes up for sale to make sure they inform buyers of the historic district. Mr. Schumann <br />advised that he and Mrs. Davis had been working on a letter to send to each homeowner in the <br />district. They have discussed the possibility of sending a letter to an owner as soon as title <br />transfers on a house informing them about the historic district. Board members felt that any <br />homeowners within the historic district should be disclosing to possible buyers that their home is <br />in the historic district and with that comes additional restrictions. Mr. Rerko questioned if the <br />board could place some type of deed restriction or protective covenant that would be recorded <br />and show up in a title search. The board discussed working with local realtors to make them <br />aware that homeowners should be disclosing the fact that their homes are within the historic <br />district on the disclosure form. Mrs. Davis believes that some of the homeowners along <br />Butternut Ridge Road believe that because their home is not 100 years old, it isn't part of the <br />Landmarks district, which is not true. Although they are not 100 years old it is within the <br />Historic District because the area was chosen because the homes along Butternut Ridge range <br />from the early 1830 through 1967 which represents a diverse mixture of home styles throughout <br />North Olmsted's existence. The board would like to send a letter as well as a copy of the <br />1
