Schumann questioned the Frank house. Mr. Lang believed that the only thing left to plaque the
Franlc house was to date the house through archives.
V. MINOR CHANGES:
Mr. Lang handed out a copy of the minor change letter received from the Building Department
pertaining to the property at the corner Butternut and Kennedy Ridge Road which is a 1950's
brick ranch home. The owners would like to replace the shingles on the roof and the color of the
new shingles will be the same, but the style of shingle is slightly different from the existing
shingles on the home. Although the style of shingle chosen was not available when the home
was built it will improve the esthetics of the home. Mr. Rerko and Mr. Schumann reviewed that
although the shingle is not of the era of the home it was developed to resemble a shingle from
that era and it is a very good product and will last up to 40 years.
VI. COlVIMiJ1vICA'PIONS:
A. Ordinance 2004-043 pertaining to Landmarks Commission
B. Newspaper articles pertaining to saving the historical church.
C. Oberlin Heritage Center Programs & News Fa112004.
D. Oberlin Heritage Centre Spooky Sunday Soiree flyer.
E. Cleveland Restoration Newsletter September issue.
F. Preservation magazine September/October 2004.
G. Forum News September/October 2004.
H. Echoes Ohio Historical Society September/October 2004.
Mr. Lang reviewed that ordinance 2004-043 pertains to wording in the codified to help depict the
landmarlcs requirements and comply with the certified local government application
requirements.
YII. COMMIT'TEE REPOItTS:
Mr. Rerko reviewed that he and Mrs. Lord started going through documents to understand the
order the documents are in and to decide what age of homes they want to start and stop with.
They found out that they can down load some data on all the homes within the historic district
such as age, lot size and number of rooms through the Commissions Office. He questioned what
age of homes would the board like the committee to start with. Mr. Lang indicated the corrunittee
should start with any home older than 50 years old and go from their there. The board discussed
donating local duplicated maps which they posses to the schools.
Mr. Schumann proposed that the commission convert the current slides Mrs. VanAuken's has
into a computer generated slideshow presentation which could include commentary. The
commission could then burn copies of the presentation for each school to have and there would
be no need for a speaker to present the history as it would have everything on the CD. He
suggested requesting a site student who has strong computer skills the next quarter.
VIII. OLD BUSINESS:
Mr. Barker reported that the finance committee received six years worth of budget information
from the clerk but not quite sure were to go from there. It is his recollection that the Law
Department was going to look into the charter to advise the committee on the six year report
3
