.:
Crabs voiced that he object to the garage as it is two times larger than what is allowed. Mr. Lang
reviewed that a pole barn was in keeping with the era of the home, it will not be seen from the
Butternut Ridge Road and although the size and driveway should be addressed it is not for this
board to address them. The applicant will have to go before the Board of Zoning Appeals for
variances and at that time neighbors can address the size and driveway type. The board indicated
that if the garage is approved the applicant is to use landscaping to soften the appearance. Mr.
Timms indicated that he would follow the board's recommendations. The board also
recommended the use of trees along the back of the garage to buffer the size. The board asked
that the color of the shed be of a natural wood finish vinyl. It was disclosed that the existing
gravel driveway would not be widened. Mr. Schock recommends planting trees for 25% opacity.
P. Sarker motion to grant the certificate of appropriateness to construct a detached garage
60' long by 40' wide by 10' high to the eve 15' to the peek. Windows and doors to be
trimmed in framing material, landscape appropriately on the south, west sides, 25%
opacity on north side and around proposed turnaround. Shingle with sample provided and
kept. Earth tone color vinyl is to be used on the garage. If building is moved from location
on drawing applicant may need to apply for a new certificate of appropriateness. G.
Nashar seconded the motion which was unanimously approved.
B. Lord moved that there are to be no adjacent structures to the proposed garage. All
required utilities are to be run underground. T. Schock seconded the motion which was
unanimously approved.
Ms. Kubiak advised the commissioners that the historical society needs to have the certificate of
appropriateness before a permit can be authorized and she was informed that the demolition
permit can not be granted without knowing what is to take place with the remaining structures
left on the site. Once the church is at the museum site the windows, steeple and sections of walls
will be put back in place. Mr. O'Malley reviewed that although the Building Department knows
what the intent of the Historical Society is they do not know the intent of the owners of the
church, as far as what is to be done once this section of their building is removed from the site.
The owners cant just leave a hole in the side of the building were the church was located. The
owners of the remaining sections of the building will need to submit plans to the Building
Department depicting what is to be done with the remaining sections of the church. Ms. Kubiak
questioned who would have to apply for the building permits. The commission believed that the
land owners would be the ones to apply for the demolition and building permits and at that time
they should be submitting their plans for the remaining section of the church. Mr. O'Malley
advised the board that they could grant Ms. Kubiak the letter of appropriateness for moving the
building. Chairman Lang advised Ms. Kubiak that the commission would grant the Historical
Society a letter of appropriateness for the section of the church that is being moved. However
Landmarks would like the North Olmsted Landmark plaque remain on the church once at the
Museum.
P. Barker moved to grant the Historical Society a certificate of appropriateness for 30450
Lorain Road with the following stipulations, subject to proper applications for all permits;
1). The original section of the 1840 church will be detached and moved to a site at the
Frostville Museum on the Cleveland Metro Park property in North Olmsted.
