<br />North Olmsted Parks and Recreation Commission Meeting <br /> <br />August 13, 1997 <br /> <br /> <br />Meeting called to order: 7:10 p.m. <br /> <br />Attendance: Dave Gardner, Chairman <br /> Claire Hayes, Vice-Chairman <br /> Janet Saringer, City Council Member <br /> Robert Kasler, Member <br /> Richard Scott, Member <br /> Tim Smith, Member <br /> Mike Dolansky, Commissioner <br /> Todd Morgan, Assistant Commissioner <br /> Pat Scott, Secretary <br /> <br />Absent: Carolyn Kasler, Safety Director <br /> <br />Visitors: James Szalay, Resident <br /> <br />Approval of Minutes: <br />Dave Gardner asked the members to review the minutes of the last meeting of May 14, 1997 <br />and a motion was made, seconded and passed unanimously to accept the minutes as mailed. <br /> <br /> <br />Visitors Opportunity to Address Commission: <br />Jim Szalay is a part-time maintenance worker at the Recreation Center and also a resident. <br /> <br />He wanted to observe the meeting as a matter of interest. <br /> <br /> <br />Report by Recreation Commissioner: <br />Mr. Dolansky reviewed the July 1997 Administrative Report noting that on July 4, 5, and 6, <br />1997 the 20th Annual N.O.S.O. Cup was held with over 130 teams participating. Tom Stein, <br />Maintenance Supervisor, spent an extraordinary amount of time with his staff helping maintain <br />the various sites for the N.O.S.O. Cup. The estimated total cost of park maintenance was <br />$1,800 for the entire weekend, this figure includes both labor and materials. However, this <br />number does not include the Service Department expenses. The Service Department set up <br />all the snow fences to secure the parking areas and striped the parking lot at Barton/Bradley <br />Park. <br /> <br />Mr. Dolansky stated they are more then halfway finished with all the renovation work at Clague <br />Park. The northern ball field is being moved further northeast a little to provide more outfield <br />space between the two renovated ball fields. There will be a new lighted, paved parking lot <br />large enough for 45 to 55 cars at the west entrance off of Carla Lane. An earthen mound <br />buffer is being created between the resident’s house near this parking lot. A number of larger <br /> <br />
