Commission Meeting
May 13, 1998
Page 2

Report by Recreation Commissioner:
None

Report by Assistant Commissioner:
Mr. Morgan stated Mr. Dolansky resigned on May 12, 1998 and will be a Business Manager at
Medina Library. He will be remembered as bringing to us a new logo, image, slogan, vision,
and customer service.

This year at our Spring registration we took in about $23,000 for all the summer programs.
The waiting lines were cut down by having the registration set up in the Tennis Court Area.

We had a Table Top display at the Great Northern Mall on May 1, 2, & 3, 1998. We handed
out program information and balloons. Rae Anne Thomas was also there promoting the
proposed Skateboard Park and Flaire, A baseball card company was available.

The annual Fishering Derby which is sponsored by the Sportsmen Club was held on May 10,
1998 at Bunn Lake. They gave tackle boxes as door prizes. They raffled off about a thousand
dollars of rod and reels for free. They also had hot dogs, pop and chips for all who attended.

The Cheerleader and Football program registration was held on April 22 and 23, 1998. We
had 48 cheerleaders sign up and 54 boys registered for football. We are expecting a total of
90 boys to register for football by fall.

Report by Safety Director:
Mr. Jenkins stated Mr. Dolansky resigned and the Recreation Commissioner position is open.
We will be looking at some of the structures in other city recreation departments before a
recommendation is made to the Mayor. In the meantime Mr. Morgan and Mr. Jenkins will be
handling the job responsibilities of the Recreation Commissioner.

Mr. Jenkins also stated we have a twenty three year old building and the following list of capital
improvements were left by Mr. Dolansky:
Water Heater for the pool, Roof, HVAC and a compressor unit.

The Clague Park re-opening will be held on Friday, June 12, 1998 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. It will
be a community celebration and invitations will be mailed out.

Sub Committee Report:
None

Old Business:
Mr. Morgan stated in terms of future use we need to look at a work out room and offer a
program. We have been receiving a lot of requests for an area with exercise equipment. Mr.
Smith suggested maybe the Hotels/Motels would be willing to sponsor some equipment.
