<br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />NORTH OLMSTED PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION MEETING <br /> <br />November 8, 1999 <br /> <br />Meeting called to order: 7:15 p.m. <br /> <br />Attendance: Dave Gardner, Member <br /> Rich Scott, Member <br /> Tom Jenkins, Safety Director <br /> Todd Morgan, Acting Commissioner <br /> Tim Smith, Vice Chairman <br /> Carolyn Kasler, City Council Member <br /> <br />Absent: Mayor Norm Musial <br /> Claire Hayes, Chairman <br /> <br />Visitor: Diane Lekan <br /> <br />Motion of Minutes Approved: <br />A motion was made, seconded and passed unanimously to accept the minutes of September 20, <br />1999 as mailed. <br /> <br />Visitors Opportunity to Address Commission: <br />Diane Lekan, resident of North Olmsted, sat in on meeting, but did not make any comments. <br /> <br />Report by Acting Commissioner: <br />Mr. Morgan noted Donna Szalay’s departure, with regret, on November 15, 1999, and wished her <br />luck in her new position with Middleburg Heights. She worked for the Rec. Department for 14 <br />years as the Aquatics Supervisor. <br /> <br />Mr. Morgan stated that we are looking to the future as to what’s in store for the Recreation and <br />Parks Departments. <br /> <br />Special events included a football banquet on November 3, 1999 and cheerleader banquet on <br />November 10, (generation of funds from fundraisers being self -sustaining.) <br /> <br />Winter programming begins with Basketball, Co-ed volleyball and Open Volleyball. <br /> <br />th <br />Friday night, November 12, the Rec. Center will be celebrating Austin Powers Retro Night with <br />thth <br />Big Boy; attracting age groups of 5 through 9 graders. Another big evening planned is the <br />Lumberjacks Skate on November 17; drawing kids in to skate with them, watching them practice <br />and getting autographs. Midwestern Divisional Hockey Tournament at the end of September, <br />another success. <br /> <br />
