NORTH OLMSTED PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION MEETING January 10, 2000 Meeting called to order: 7:10 p.m. Attendance: Claire Hayes, Chairman Tom Jenkins, Safety Director Duane Limpert, City Council Member Richard Scott, Member Todd Morgan, Acting Commissioner Dave Gardner, Member Tom Stein, Recreation Department Maintenance Judith Ptacek, Acting Secretary Absent: Tim Smith Debbie Adams (not notified) Visitors: Betty Wilson, Community Council Linda Holt, Community Council The meeting was called to order at 7:10 p.m. and the visitors were asked to address the Commission. Visitors Opportunity to Address Commission: The visitors spoke regarding the logistics on the new park shelter in conjuction with their efforts with Tom Stein. Mr. Stein presented material only costs of $17,765 (freight $650) on a Poligan OCT 44 T Prefab building. Estimated costs of engineering drawings if needed by the building department would be approximately $650.00. The concrete for pad and footings for 35 yards of concrete and concrete wire would be $2,735. Total roofing costs were estimated at $500.00. Electrical costs would run about $7,000, with the City to do the trenching. The fireplace for the pavilion (depending on type of construction) was estimated at $6,000 by Chimney Masters, Inc. and The Chimney and Masonry Co., which companies requested an architectural drawing. Mr. Stein contacted Schill Architecture and sent them a copy of the prints. Mr. Stein’s professional opinion is to erect the fireplace on the outer edge of the building, with the location of the shelter recommended by Mr. Stein and Community Council as the old horseshoe pit area because the area was measured and no trees must be taken down.
