NORTH OLMSTED PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION

NOVEMBER 20, 2000

Meeting called to order: 7:15 p.m.

Attendance: Claire Hayes, Chairman
Dave Gardner, Member
Tom Jenkins, Safety Director
Debbie Adams, Member
Todd Morgan, Commissioner

Absent: Tim Smith, Vice Chairman
Duane Limpert, City Council Member
Richard Scott, Member

You’ll have to forgive me here we’re a little bit in disarray. Judy Ptacek our administrative
secretary and secretary of the rec. commission has resigned. She’s basically going into retirement
afterwards in thirty years and will probably work part time with the agent. So we wish her well in
her endeavors, and she had remarried recently and I think that had a big change in why she felt she
could do that.

I’m going to update you one step beyond that, we’ve advertised there’s a union position open.
We’ve posted it for seven days. Three people first applied and then tested for the position.
Typing test, excel, editing a rough draft, and grammar and proof reading; and one person
qualified. She accepted the job but then in conference declined to take it. She’s had difficulty
previously in her life and didn’t think she needed the additional stress. The other two candidates
were not qualified to take this job, so we will have to find someone from outside. In the mean
time we have a part-time person, temporarily. The candidate will be tested and the one with the
most seniority will be chosen. The candidate will be here for sixty days and in that time will have
to prove that she is capable of doing the job.

I think with Judy the July minutes. We didn’t meet in August, and we didn’t have a formal
meeting in September or in October. So I don’t think we went over the July minutes. We met
unofficially in September did we not? We met both in September and in October but we didn’t
have a quorum. Debbie Adams said that she received a call for the October commission meeting
saying that it was cancelled because there weren’t enough people and she would have been there.
If I had been there, there would have been a quorum. I was thinking that we had two unofficial
meetings. The one where Jason, Doug and Jackie attended was the October unofficial meeting.
