very busy day with lots of activities going on for the kids and to keep in mind that the big
th
registration is held on the first weekend in May. This year the registration will be held May 5.

The spring/summer brochure is currently at PM Graphics for printing. PM Graphics was awarded
the contract due to their low bid. PM Graphics is able to save approximately 15% on printing
costs due to the fact that they use paper on rolls and cut their own paper. It is expected that they
will do a fine job for the Rec Center, as they have done this for us in the past as well.

Mr. Morgan ran through a list of upcoming special events:
th
?

Annual Fishing Derby – May 13
th
?

Hot Stove Opening Day – May 19
th
?

Skate Park Dedication – My 12 (It was noted by Mr. Morgan that the cement work is now
complete.)

Mr. Morgan then spoke on capital improvements.

The rink sound system and event lighting is now in place. We had a ribbon cutting ceremony and
display at the Easter Open House. It was enjoyed by all.

Diamond #2 at North Olmsted Park is near completion. [Mrs. Hayes inquired if this was the new
high school varsity field.] Mr. Morgan said that it is not. It is in fact the girls’ varsity field. The
boys’ varsity field is Diamond #1. Improvements have been made to the backstops and sideline
fencing. Mr. Tom Stein will be painting the backstop to finish up the work on Diamond #1.

Lockers for the rink have gone out to bid. Mr. Morgan stated that in a conversation with Mr.
Paul Deichmann, the City Engineer, it was said that American Locker was the only bidder. It was
noted by Mr. Jenkins that this bid has been approved by the Board of Control. Mr. Deichmann is
currently working on bids for the lobby HVAC and canopy roof improvements, as well as the
tennis roof coating project bid. [Mrs. Hayes inquired as to when installation of the lockers will
take place.] Mr. Morgan responded by saying that installation will occur over the summer
months. It was also noted by Mr. Morgan that the Mondo floor in the rink warming area is set
for June installation.

Other improvements being made in-house were noted:
?

Auto flushers have been installed throughout the building, with the exception of the ladies’
pool locker room which will be done shortly.
?

Auto faucets are scheduled for installation throughout the building.
?

In the ladies tennis locker room: toilet seat cover receptacles, waste receptacles, new vanity
mirror, 2 tennis prints, painted walls and ceiling, floor painting will be redone with an epoxy
paint to prevent peeling which has occurred New partitions for shower stalls and toilets are
being considered as well.
?

The north wall in the tennis courts has been painted and will be receiving one more coat.
?

Digital clocks have been installed and new pulleys are on order for the tennis department.
?

10 new ballasts have been ordered for the tennis courts to help alleviate some of the buzzing
Page 2
