The ADA Grant ($30,000) was approved for the front doors and front lobby restrooms. This is a
match for our capital improvement monies to complete the work to meet ADA regulations.

Replacement of the Lorain Road sign is being considered as a capital improvement as well. The
current sign being considered has a price range of $48,000 - $58,000 from Stewart Signs. The
sign offers 4 lines of text that fades in and out gradually; it does not flash distractingly. [Mr.
Gardner inquired if insurance coverage is being looked into.] Mr. Morgan stated that casualty
loss is currently under consideration. However, it would be minimal due to the age of the sign.

The maintenance department is in full swing preparing for spring and summer. Playground mulch
and sand for the volleyball courts are on order. Landscaping around the complex is complete.
Portable restrooms are on order for Clague Park. Dirt for the ball diamonds is on order. The
outdoor pool is being prepared for opening. The concrete work and painting is in process.

Two new cash registers for the ticket booth have been purchased. These new registers have
capability of storing 1000 PLUs. Three registers, two new and one old, will be in operation each
day. Each cashier will have their own register now. This will hopefully alleviate most of the
errors in balancing.

Mr. Morgan then briefly reviewed new programs and changes to programs:
?

SNAG Golf – (Jason Frolo discussed this program in detail at last meeting.) Fifteen children
th
have already signed up for the program. Once we hit the 20 registration, we will have paid
off the equipment.
?

New instructor for dog obedience
?

In-line Hockey and LaCrosse have both gone from 2 day clinics to 6 week programs
?

Little Scientist has been replaced with Mad Scientist (This is due to the head instructor is
having a child and didn’t feel she could keep up the quality of the program. Mad Scientist
was at the Easter Open House holding demonstrations. It was quite a success.)
?

Soccer, T-ball, and Whiffleball clinics have been moved to later times in hopes to enroll more
children and allow for parents to get them there.
?

New wrestling clinic for the summer
?

Before and after care programs are being implemented for the Playground Program. [Mrs.
Hayes asked what would happen if it rains.] Mr. Morgan stated that the programs are moved
indoors.
?

The ice rink will open 6 weeks earlier. Featuring some new programs contracted with Jeff
Marshall at a cost of $36,000. He will be required to submit two $10,000 payments before
the programs are up and running.

Mr. Morgan noted two personnel changes to the Rec. Dept. staff. Doug Nist, Pool Supervisor,
has resigned, giving his 2 week notice. He will be returning to his hometown of Massillion as the
Superintendent of Maintenance of Parks. Barbara Bittner has joined the staff as full-time
Bookkeeper.
Mr. Gardner inquired if the cable company is completely out of the building. Mr. Morgan
responded by saying yes and that he wishes to take the committee over to see the area and its
possibilities.
Page 3
