Also, it has been discussed to have <br />$2.00 of the Learn-to-Skate/Swim fee go to Concession for a party after program has been <br />completed. While at the same time have sign-up tables available during party to help boost <br />attendance in those areas as well. This will all be a part of the advertising, as well. <br />*Claire Hayes asked why Tax Revenue typically increases and why it shows a decrease now? Mr. <br />Morgan stated that these figures are given to us by Finance Dept. and are not within our control. <br /> <br />Mr. Morgan had a 15-20 minute video from a sign company for the proposed new sign for Lorain <br />Road. <br /> <br />This concludes Mr. Morgan’s report. <br /> <br />REPORT BY MR. TOM JENKINS SAFETY DIRECTOR <br /> <br />Budget for 2001 is currently being completed and will be ready to share with the committee in <br />February meeting. <br /> <br />Regarding Springvale Capital Improvement Project, just an F.Y.I., two scenarios are being <br />discussed: 1) to either leave as status quo, 2) take action. A formal presentation will occur at the <br />next council meeting. (An information packet as reference was given.) <br /> <br />Regarding 2001 Capital Improvements, $250,000 has been received from council for Park <br />Improvements. Chagrin Valley Engineering to plan for park improvements, including new tennis <br />courts, basketball courts, volleyball, and the addition of shuffleboard. The configuration for the <br />parking lot and drive through road is being considered, as well. He, Todd Morgan and Tom Stein <br />have met with Jim Larson, an architect consulting and hearing our ideas for the park’s renovation <br />and expansion (at no cost). <br /> <br />This concludes Mr. Jenkins’ report. <br /> <br />Claire Hayes asked if any questions for Tom. <br />Duane Limpert stated he wished to clarify the issue of $250,000 from Council. It has not <br />officially been approved. There have been no objections; however, it is not yet “official”. It is <br />looking very favorable. Mr. Jenkins stated that the $250,000 is a portion of a 2 million note being <br />borrowed for city capital improvements. Duane Limpert is very hopeful to have 10% for Rec Ctr <br />from Council for the “new” (2001) projects for park improvements. <br /> <br />Any old business? No. New business? Duane Limpert raised the question as to whether there is a <br />product to paint the elbows of the brine pipe system in the rink? Such as “Stop Leak”? To <br />prevent leaks and reinforce the elbows. Todd Morgan suggested he speak with Tom Stein to call <br />Burley’s to inquire about such a product. He has been warned that it may cause further damage <br />to do an in-depth inspection. The elbows are 25 yrs old. In response to Mr. Limpert’s inquiry <br />about the cost of replacing the elbows, Mr. Morgan said $15-20,000. Mr. Limpert then <br />suggested we look at this for 2002 budget, since a new rink at the cost of $450-500,000 is not <br />being considered for next year’s budget.
