Programs:
Mr. Morgan stated that he was disappointed that for the first time in 15 yrs the Adult Volleyball
League did not go over well. Will be trying to make up for the revenue loss with new programs
for the younger kids at Birch School.
New programs in the works are Poised and Polished, an etiquette and grooming session, and
Sticky Fingers, that Debbie Adams’ daughter will be teaching as a credit for her teaching degree.
Advertising to begin soon for brochure bids and for concessions in the park.
Channel 5 here today to interview Tom Stein about the zambone and its Carbon Monoxide levels
2
in the rink and the emissions testing. The fire dept ran the CO test and ours was at 7ppm, which
is very low. Also, our zambone is run on natural gas, which burns much cleaner than propane.

Mr. Morgan then went through the commission packet enclosures briefly.

Debbie Adams inquired as to when AEK will be up and running. Mr. Morgan stated that we are
awaiting an $1800 upgrade to make it compatible with Windows 98. Once we have the updates,
Gary Hannum from Data Processing will install it. We hope to have it up in Todd’s office for
training and data input within the next month. It will cost approx. $2000 to fly a rep out for
training a dual system. We hope to have a dual system up in March until we weed out all the bugs
and have the old system as back-up. Ms. Adams asked what the capabilities are to persay,
research how often someone calls or signs up for classes. In relation to marketing strategy. Todd
was told that this system should be able to do this. However, more information needs to be
obtained as we train. He hopes to be able to have a swipe card installed. This will immediately
notify us whether or not a card is valid. Also, Springvale may eventually go to the same system if
it is successful here.

Financial Statements:
*Duane Limpert questioned page 2 of the Year-To-Date as of December financial statement.
Why Gymnastics is up considerably and Exercise down in same respect?
Mr. Morgan stated that Carrie Skall changed over how classes are rung up – Exercise is now rung
up as Gymnastics. Thus, these figures have offset each other.
*Mr. Morgan also pointed out the Team Sales figures. To be noted that house jerseys are
purchased each year and travel jerseys every 5 years. Also that 1998 December bill was paid in
January 1999. Thus, for 2000, it will appear as a downfall in Team Sales
*Debbie Adams questioned the Game machines progressively going down?
Mr. Morgan pointed out that the violent games were taken out, which were popular with the kids.
The rec. ctr. does take a 50/50 split with the vending company.
*Duane Limpert questioned Concessions is flat – what can be done? While rink is up, sales in
Concession is not – why? Mr. Morgan stated that new products are being featured and combo
meals offered. Also, that no swim meet drove down sales. And attendance directly affects
Concession profits. Also, no price increase recently is a possibility
*Claire Hayes asked if pop machines were part of Concession? Yes.
*It was suggested that by Duane Limpert that parents meet prior to program in Concession to
discuss children in relation to classes; by Claire Hayes and Duane Limpert to have a kiosk
available, perhaps with donuts and coffee in lobby to boost sales. Mr. Morgan stated that a kiosk
Page 3
