NORTH OLMSTED PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION March 26, 2001 Meeting called to order: 7:00 p.m. Attendance: Claire Hayes, Chairman Dave Gardner, Vice Chairman Tom Jenkins, Safety Director Paul Miller, Council Rep. Member Richard Scott, Member Axel Hoyer, Member Absent: Todd Morgan, Commissioner Visitors: Duane Limpert, City Council Member (This month’s commission meeting was held at Tony Roma’s Restaurant) . Dave Gardner called the meeting to order and roll-call was taken. All current members of the commission were in attendance. Commissioner, Todd Morgan, was not present. Tom Jenkins introduced Mr. Axel Hoyer, the Mayor’s newly appointed commission member. He replaces Tim Smith. Axel was approved by the legislative committee of council two weeks ago. Axel has been active with football, basketball, and was president of Hot Stove baseball for a couple of years. He is very active within the community. All welcomed him “aboard”. Mr. Jenkins then introduced the recreation center program directors, who were present to update the committee on their individual department progress. Present were: Doug Nist, Aquatic Supervisor, Betsy Drenski, Rink Supervisor, and Jason Frolo, Program Supervisor. Last month’s minutes were reviewed. No changes or corrections were cited. Rich Scott made stnd the 1 motion to approve the minutes, with a 2 by Paul Miller. All were in favor. Reports by Todd Morgan and Tom Jenkins included the program directors’ reports. REPORT BY DOUG NIST, AQUATICS SUPERVISOR We are experiencing good numbers in water exercise classes. Aqua deep and aerobics are picking up in attendance. The outdoor pool being looked at to get it up and running – painting and preparation. [Dave Gardner inquired if the wall problem in the outdoor pool was under control.] Page 1
