OLD BUSINESS

Safety Director to give us some Legal Opinions on
criminal background checks. Mr. Limpert and Mr. Jesse
discussed the matter further. There will be background
checks and there has been legislation introduced, of which
Mr. Limpert did not have handy. Mr. Jesse stated that any
program of less than $300 would be waived for the check,
but the check would still be required. The schools have
been doing this a lot longer than we have. There is a
program through criminal investigation work where they
took a fingerprint electronically, and there is an
explanation on the Web (location not transcribed). The
cost is a few thousand to set it up, but minimal per person.
The City of North Olmsted is currently paying a company
to do that, and Mr. Jesse is unclear on what exactly is
encompassed in the information process. Of course, the
City could set up the old fashioned ink and press print. In
any event, the City will be looking for consistency and
accuracy in the background check procedure. Ms. Hayes
stated that one of the major concerns, of course, is child
abuse, and the Recreation Department must look at this
very carefully.

Law Department opinions on “We Care” Program.

Page 10
