NORTH OLMSTED PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION May 20, 2002 Meeting called to order: 7:11 p.m. In Attendance: Michael Gareau, Jr., Councilman Randi Jones, Member Bill Kelley, Member Lisa Thomas, Safety Director Todd Morgan, Commissioner Absent: Claire Hayes, Chairman Visitors: Pat Cunningham, Tennis Supervisor Linda Powell, Tennis Patron Duane Limpert, Councilman Meeting called to order and roll-call taken. It was noted by Mr. Michael Gareau, Jr. that Axel Hoyer has resigned from the Commission. There was a motion to approve the minutes from April by Bill, with a second by Michael. Roll-call; all in favor; motion passed. No corrections or additions were requested. Pat Cunningham, Tennis Supervisor Addresses Commission Pat has been with the Rec Center 19 years, and has served as Tennis Supervisor for 8 years. Goal and Objectives for the Tennis Department: ?Currently have four (4) courts, built in 1975 with the rest of the building. They require very little maintenance. Colors were changed and brightened in 1997. Any improvements lately have been geared towards appearance. ?Tennis makes money strictly based on court rates/fees and programs such as: ?Court Rental ?Permanent Court Time Contracts - Court times are sold to and reserved for particular persons/groups in 6 month blocks. The contracts are billed and renewed 2x/year – no discount is given. ?Leagues ?The Jr. Development Program ?Lessons ?Inner-club - League play with instruction, playing neighboring clubs ?Hold two tournaments per year: Juniors (under 18) and Adults - These are not big money-makers, but they do several things for the NORC such as give us exposure and let the tennis community know that we are interested in growing the game ?Recreational Programs ?Summer Team Program - All of the people who played throughout the year are entered into a nationally backed program and play with teams of their own level throughout Northeast Ohio.
