Minutes of a Meeting of
The North Olmsted Parks and Recreation Commission
June 4, 2007

booking the games, but the Rec Department had the Master Schedule. Mr. Scarl said that the schools
hand Hot Stove a piece of paper that says Hot Stove is allowed to use the field at a certain time from
April to July, though there’s no date. Joe Vitale, Hot Stove, Puritas people come in, and all look at
the Master Schedule with all the fields. Chris Wetmore has the Master Schedule. The City took care
of Chestnut, Birch, Spruce, and so on, but those fields are on the Master Schedule. The organizations
that are involved are using ninety percent of city fields, so you can’t just go and do the ten percent at a
certain place; they are lumped together. The only difference is: Hot Stove is just maintaining the
fields. Mr. Scarl said there are probably six other teams that do not belong to Hot Stove that are
playing hard ball, baseball that belong to other leagues – six scheduled teams that are using every
possible field they can get their hands on. There’s even a Westlake team using North Olmsted fields.
They are a Westlake team with enough North Olmsted residents on it to qualify using a North Olmsted
fields.

Ms. Peepers thanked the Commission; Ms. Kanis thanked Ms. Peepers for coming. She said she is just
trying to develop the Emerald Necklace Team – the girls love it and take to so well to the fast pitch.

REPORT OF THE COMMUNITY LIFE SERVICES DIRECTOR

None

OLD BUSINESS

Ms. Kanis said that she went to half of the ice show – the first half – on Sunday afternoon. It was
packed. It was a very nice show, especially with the little kids.

NEW BUSINESS

The Commission is hoping to hear what is going on with the Rec Master Plan.

ADJOURNMENT OF MEETING

Upon Motion made by Mr. Lasko, duly seconded by Mr. Scarl, and unanimously approved,
the meeting adjourned at 7:50 p.m. The next scheduled meeting of the North Olmsted Parks
and Recreation Commission will be August 6, 2007.

Accepted and Approved:
______________________________________________
Anna Kanis, Chairperson
_______________________________________________
Judith A. Ptacek-Roche, Secretary
Date: _____________________________

Page 9
