Minutes of a Meeting of
The North Olmsted Parks and Recreation Commission
October 1, 2007

Rink

Mr. Dailey said that there was a problem with the Rink this past week. One of the chillers broke
down, and was repaired. The ice got wet for a while, so the chiller was replaced. Mr. Garrity and Ms.
Drenski said that there was no business lost.

This concluded the report of the Community Life Services Director.

OLD BUSINESS

None.

NEW BUSINESS

Ms. Powell complimented Mr. Dailey and the staff at the Rec Center for taking care of the locker
room, and especially the women’s locker room. She talked to a few people about the matter, and they
were so grateful and appreciated it. Mr. Dailey said that was something that was brought up to the
Rec Commission late last year or earlier this year. The Pool Supervisor, Cindy Bartko, was brought
into this with the staff and decided how and when to get the locker rooms cleaned out. Mr. Dailey
thanked Ms. Powell, saying it was good to hear.

Mr. Lasko then asked Mr. Garrity if there were any comments or concerns from Mr. Garrity. He
replied that the NOHC was up and running at this time – he wished there were more kids – but that
will be rectified. He did not know what the Club could do, but perhaps it could help with passing the
flyers out in the Avon Schools as some of their members live and work in Avon.

Mr. Barker asked if there would be any enrollment increases for next year with ice being active now.
Mr. Garrity said that there was a new program out of Winterhurst called, “The Warriors.” They are
trying to play AAA hockey. The cost they were throwing out was between $1,500 and $2,000, which
is a little bit expensive if you can find the talent. The trouble is, in Northern Ohio, you don’t have that
kind of talent – you have to travel. Again, the NOHC went out with the flyers this past week, and we
started our Mighty Mite Program. The NOHC got two Mighty Mite teams because of the flyers.
There were 42 Mites last year so, hopefully, that will continue.

Mr. Lasko asked if there were any more comments for New Business. There being none, Mr. Lasko
noted that the next meeting will be November 5, 2007. On behalf of everyone, he again wished Ms.
Drenski best wishes, to which she offered her thanks.
Page 4
