Minutes of a Meeting of
The North Olmsted Parks and Recreation Commission
October 1, 2007

City Schools about contributing to the restoration of Field #1 at the Park. Field #1 is used exclusively
by those two organizations. In exchange for the Hot Stove organization and the Schools picking up
the cost for the materials, the Maintenance Crew here at the Rec Department are going to be the ones
to do the work on it, and get that field put back together. In fact, to make it official, it will be going to
Council tomorrow night. There are no problems expected. It’s similar to what we did in the spring
with Hot Stove with Fields #4 and #5. We just encouraged the Schools and Hot Stove to step up here
again. The money has been made available by the parties involved (High School; Hot Stove.) It’s
been a long time since the City has done anything in-house. Mr. Scarl asked if Tom Stein would be
heading up the crew. Mr. Dailey said that yes, he would be. Mr. Scarl said that if that be the case,
there would be nothing to worry about. Mr. Dailey said it’s a nice opportunity for the school, city and
a private organization to work together to get a project completed. Now the key is to maintain it.

Ms. Drenski’s Maternity Leave

Ms. Drenski is due to have a baby imminently, and will not return for three months after the baby is
born. Mr. Dailey said that the Commission will look forward to her return.

This concluded the report of the Recreation Commissioner.

REPORT OF THE COMMUNITY LIFE SERVICES DIRECTOR

Marketing for the Rec Center

Mr. Dailey reported that the post-card mailing was not working. The City’s website isn’t quite up to
par with some of the surrounding communities. The Rec Department will be going back to three or
four sheets of 8-1/2 x 11” mailing, folded in half, also directing the citizens to the Website. Ms.
Drenski provided a rough draft for the Commission’s review. The cost will be right about the same as
what was being paid for the postcards. This way, the Rec Center will get more information out to the
people. It won’t be the fine, glossy booklet that the Rec Department had in the past, but it will get
information to our users. Because the cost was low enough, the Rec will mail a copy to every resident
in North Olmsted. Ms. Drenski said it will be a six-sided mailing. Mr. Dailey said that, again, the
cost will be about what it cost for the postcards, so the Rec Department is pleased with that fact. Ms.
Drenski said it would also be mailed to all the non-residents in the Rec trac computer system. It will
be a little more work to get out, but the payoff will be worth it, said Mr. Dailey.
Page 3
