Recreation Commission Meeting
January 5, 2004

Motion be made on Mr. Hatfield's letter, that it be filed until such time that there is a school board
member on the Commission. Mr. Gareau said that there is one simple fact to consider: the Rec
Center has no money, and neither do the schools. As example, someone was recently complaining
about the condition of the track. There is only one way something can be done, and that is if
grant money is available. Mr. Gareau said that he would forward the letter to Kim Wenger, the
City Planning Director, and ask her to contact Mr. Hatfield, provided there is no objection. No
one objected.

OLD BUSINESS

Soccer Facilities

Mr. Kelley asked about the status of the soccer facilities at Barton/Bradley. Mr. DiSalvo said that
nothing has been heard on the irrigation system. He is meeting with the President of NOSO this
month on the matter. Mr. Kelley said that if the Commission could, it should talk NOSO into
taking over the water bill, and bring it up for discussion, because the Rec Center has lost too
many opportunities. Mr. DiSalvo said his concern is that the Rec can't afford the water bill at this
time. Parking is also a problem.

MOTION TO ADJOURN

After motion was made by Mr. Gareau and duly seconded by Mr. Kelley, all were in
favor, and the Meeting adjourned at 8:13 p.m.

Accepted and Approved:

________________________________________________________________________
Michael R Gareau, Jr., Acting Chairman

________________________________________________________________________
Judith A. Ptacek-Roche, Secretary

Date: _____________________________

Page 7
