Recreation Commission Meeting
October 4, 2004

Barton/Bradley Water Line

The Barton/Bradley Water Line is still a work in progress but, basically, all that needs done is a
water pressure test, which should be done within the next week or so.

Rink Main Door Replacement

The rink main door replacement is eighty five percent fabricated. The maintenance men have been
tied up with some projects in the parks at the present time because they are on a limited window
to get those projects done because of the weather. Within the next few weeks the main frame
door should be completed.

Clague Walk Path

The Clague walk path is scheduled to begin installation the second week of October. The
demolition and prep work are completed. It’s only about thirty percent installed. Mr. DiSalvo
did not know what was taking the workers so long. It’s perfect, but it’s taking forever. It’s a flat
rate job, not hourly.

Baseball Diamond Improvements

Field 1 and Field 5 baseball diamond improvements are going to begin this week, probably
Wednesday. Field 1 will be shortened to a little league field, so the clay must be removed,
dumped on Field 5, and placed with fill dirt. Then there will be topsoil placed, along with seed,
fertilizer and straw. Field 1 will be a Little League/Hot Stove Field; Field 5 will be converted into
a larger diamond for the JV and Freshman baseball teams. It’s a matter of coordinating between
the Service Department for equipment and the Recreation Department maintenance men, who will
be doing the work. This will be a day’s project. Mr. Jesse said that the most of the fill dirt was
provided by ODOT from I-480. Field 3 will have two trees removed. Fields 1 and 5 must be
done this week to germinate the ground before a frost.

Marking Trees

Ms. Jones asked Mr. DiSalvo about the Cub Scouts or Eagle Scouts marking the trees with
plaques. Mr. DiSalvo said that Chris (Wetmore) was handling this matter. The Commissioner
will talk to him to find out its present status. There is a group interested in doing this project; Mr.
DiSalvo was to follow through. Mr. Jesse said that a man named Butchko (sp?) was referred to
make the plaques.

Baldwin Wallace College

Mr. DiSalvo is working with Baldwin Wallace College to establish a program with its sports and
recreation management majors to offer a 10 and 12 credit internship (between two and three
Page 2
