Minutes of a Meeting of
The North Olmsted Parks and Recreation Commission
June 6, 2005

APPROVAL OF MINUTES

Minutes of May 2005

Mr. Kelley asked if the Members of the Commission read the Minutes from May 2005 and asked
for a Motion to approve them. Mr. Miller moved in favor; the Motion seconded by Mr. Lasko.
The Chairman asked all members in favor of the Minutes to signify by an aye. There being no
objection, the May 2005 Minutes were approved unanimously.

SUB COMMITTEE REPORTS

Collaboration between the Rec Center and School Board

Mr. Kelley asked Mr. Lasko if there was anything further to report on the collaboration between
the Rec Center and the School Board. Mr. Lasko said that nothing further transpired since last
month on the matter.

REPORT OF THE RECREATION COMMISSIONER

Indoor and Outdoor Pool Status

Mr. DiSalvo reported to the Recreation Commission that he wanted to review the status of the
indoor and outdoor pools.

As far as the indoor pool closing is concerned, it was the decision of the Mayor and Safety
Director to close the indoor pool until a complete inspection was conducted regarding the
structural integrity of the roof support beam in question. Past inspection information files could
not be located at City Hall in a timely manner and, therefore, the pool was ordered closed until an
inspection was conducted. The final inspection concluded that the roof structure of the pool is
structurally stable under the current anticipated design loads. The beam frames will require
structural reinforcement before the next winter season. The Mayor, Safety Director, and City
Council members have received this information as well.

Ms. Jones asked what difference it made in the swimming lessons. Mr. DiSalvo said that there
was a 13-day delay. Everything was prorated and rescheduled.

Regarding the outdoor pool repairs, the outdoor pool decks and gutters were beyond normal
annual maintenance repair. The deck and gutter had to be rebuilt. The Service Department is
conducting the repair work on the outdoor pool. Like every other city department, they have
limited staff and are working to complete the job as soon as possible. The Mayor, Safety
Page 2
