Minutes of a Meeting of
The North Olmsted Parks and Recreation Commission
June 6, 2005

clear, that this be a non-commercial, non-political event. Mr. Miller so moved, and Mr. Baxter
seconded this Motion. Everyone else on the Commission signified their agreement by an aye, and
th
the Motion to send a letter to the Administration to keep the 4 of July Parade within the auspices
of the Recreation Center and recommending that it be kept family oriented, and a non-
commercial, non-political event, passed unanimously.

This concluded the Report of the Recreation Commissioner.

REPORT OF THE SAFETY DIRECTOR

Focus of Safety Director

Mr. Duane Limpert, the new Safety Director, began his report by saying that his focus as the
Safety Director will be on quality and growth.

Rotary Pavilion

Mr. Kelley asked Mr. Limpert about the status of the Pavilion the Rotary has at the Park and the
status of that Pavilion. Mr. Limpert deferred to the Commissioner on this matter. Mr. DiSalvo
said that he knew Mr. Jesse met with the Rotary people. Mr. DiSalvo said that Rotary is
supposed to fix the roof, etc. Mr. Jesse was working with the principal of the Rotary, and the
Commissioner will contact the former Safety Director to determine status. Mr. Kelley said that
the reason he brought the subject up is that he knew a person who received a permit to use the
Pavilion but because of its condition could not use it, thus stopping renting out the Pavilion.

Water at Barton/Bradley Soccer Fields

Mr. Kelley knows that the City put in a $38,000 water line last year at the Barton/Bradley Soccer
Fields. There were two or three water fountains tapped; two for sure. He wondered what the
status was on the water fountains. Mr. Limpert replied that, giving Mr. Kelley old news, there
was some concern after the fact that the water fountains on that line was not going to be in proper
drinking condition. Mr. Kelley said that, in other words, the water fountains are on the same line
as the main for watering the fields; there was not a separate line run. There was some question as
to whether there was a half-inch line run with it. The work was done in-house. Mr. Kelley said
that, and he was a novice, but you cannot use potable water (sprinkling water) as drinking water.
You must run a separate line. When it was open, there was the ability to do that, but it was not
done in the open trench. Ms. Kanis said that when the NOSO people were just here (before the
meeting) they that they need to have another line come in with the line; that they need to bring the
line up from the bathroom. Mr. Limpert said that, again, the volume is in the major line for the
amount of water that would move through one could drink water that’s been in the
Page 6
