Minutes of a Meeting of
The North Olmsted Parks and Recreation Commission
June 6, 2005

line for six months or longer, which may or may not be properly drained. Ms. Kanis said that
what she was trying to say was that Tom Stein, Maintenance Supervisor, was trying to say that it
nd
would be impossible to bring the lines for the NOSO Cup, which is July 2. Mr. Kelley said they
are tapped into the same line as the sprinkler; they must run an entire new line. Ms. Kanis said
that was why they were trying to get the lines off the bathrooms; not off the road. Mr. Kelley
asked if this could be expedited and done by NOSO Cup time, because kids are in soccer try outs
for travel teams right now who are hot and thirsty. Mr. Miller said he would put this before
Council tomorrow and Mr. Limpert said he would follow up as well.

This concluded the Report of the Safety Director.

OLD BUSINESS

Stands for the Softball Fields/Road Paving/Walking Path

Mr. Baxter asked about the current status of the stands for the softball fields. What is the status
of the road paving? What is the status of the potential walking path? He still thought it was a
good idea to finish the playground for the kids, as well.

Mr. Miller said that, on the road issue, Council authorized the money to be expended. At this
point, the goal is to repave the road. If, afterwards, there is an interest or anticipation of success,
they would talk about cutting it off. That has not been decided; the inclination is to not do that,
but even if they did put in a turnaround, the first goal is to get the road and the rest of the parking
lot completed. Mr. Baxter strongly urged they don’t close. Mr. Miller said that it all wound up
to be a cost factor as far as speed bumps.

Mr. DiSalvo said that additional funds have been given to the Rec Department. The Rec
Department will be responsible for cap improvements to cover the road repair for $58,000. The
additional funds of $100,000 do not include the walk path around North Olmsted Park.
Beginning in June, the Rec Department may get quotes and bids before it was passed by Council.
The bleachers will be replaced. All the necessary fences will be replaced as well. HVAC for
tennis will be replaced. Exit doors for the rink will be replaced. North Olmsted Park ball field
bleachers. Overall landscaping at North Olmsted Park and new play equipment for two to five
year olds will be done. Within the next two months, all the cap improvements will gain
momentum and be done.

Mr. Limpert said that the walking path at Clague Park which goes from the west parking lot along
the north edge of the park to the east parking lot area going over to the playground area was just
completed about ten days ago. Someday it will be nice to have a complete circle with it. It was
funded by part of the recreation area of the Deerfield Development that was sold by the City for
that improvement.
Page 7
