Minutes of a Meeting of
The North Olmsted Parks and Recreation Commission
June 6, 2005

Ms. Jones asked about the walk path in the back with the signs for the trees. Mr. Limpert said
that has not been done at this point of time. There is currently a list formed at City Hall for
possible Eagle Scout projects. Ms. Kanis thought that the scouts would not be marking the trees.
Mr. Baxter said that they would participate, but that you can’t expect twelve year olds to make
the signs to make the signs effective. They could help in some fashion, but Mr. Baxter thought
that the City through its Forester would take the matter over because he has the knowledge and
might be familiar with what was done previously. Mr. Miller said that the representative of the
scouting organization would first try to identify the trees and that the City would assist in
placement of the signs. The method of the signage was to be determined and that a North
Olmsted business in the sign business would actually create the signs. Mr. Miller asked if there
had been a representative at a meeting to explain what the plans were, and didn’t the Commission
agree to those plans? Mr. DiSalvo said that there were many people involved in this matter and
the tree signage was tabled. Ms. Jones said that the Eagle Scouts doing the work is a good idea.
They did all the legwork in her home city and did everything in cooperation with the city. Mr.
Limpert said that if something like that were to be done, it would not be done haphazardly. That
would be part of the Commission’s requirement that the Scouts lay out a plan of what they have
in mind and then the expertise of the Forester would be brought in to confirm the identification of
the trees. The type of signage and how it will look will be submitted, and it should end up being a
very first class job; if not, the City will not have it done. Mr. Miller asked whose responsibility
this matter was. Mr. Limpert said that right now there is no Eagle Scout looking for it as a
project but there is a listing at City Hall for possible projects. Ms. Jones asked if the Scouts knew
about the tree project. Mr. Miller asked Mr. Limpert if he would send a letter to the Scouts
regarding this matter. Mr. Limpert said he would do that if the Commission is interested or at
least spread it by word of mouth at All Scouts Weekend, which is coming up.

Wireless Service

Mr. Miller asked Mr. DiSalvo about the status of wireless service or metered wireless service in
the building. Mr. DiSalvo said he has not followed through on this matter but will follow up by
the next meeting. Mr. Miller said he may have an anonymous donor depending on the cost of the
service.

NEW BUSINESS

Phase Work at Skate Park

Mr. DiSalvo said that the building department has reported that Rae Ann Thomas has submitted a
proposal to add an additional cement block and pipe on the existing skate park. Mr. DiSalvo
needs the Rec Commission’s approval to have the project permitted by the City. There is a Coke
Page 8
