Minutes of a Meeting of the
North Olmsted Parks and Recreation Commission
September 12, 2005

In the interest of prudence, there are three companies, and that is where we are with the pool roof
right now. The original plan was to keep the indoor pool closed until the repair was made, but we
were also originally hoping to have those prints by mid-August. The Rec Department has gone
ahead and filled up the indoor pool, and the programs have been started. When the prices are
back from these companies, we will choose a vendor, and when they actually start to work we
will close the pool for whatever time they say, which is guesstimated to be two or three weeks.
Mr. Limpert will be on the phone tomorrow since the prints were expected today.

Rec Complex Security RFP Status

Mr. Limpert said that tomorrow afternoon there will be a visit to a school which used one of the
companies to see security programs and get an idea of costs. With all of the expenses we have,
the Safety Director asked for opinions of the Rec Commissioner and the Commission because so
often things become a hot button as far as security is concerned. For example, a wallet was
missing; not that anything should ever be missing, but it becomes a top priority and something has
to be done. In his tenure as Safety Director, one thing Mr. Limpert has done, and it’s an
inexpensive solution, is to have a sign that most all Rec Facilities have to sign in. As we look at
this, whether it be a videotape situation or whatever is wanted, is the benefit going to be worth
the expense? Some of these plans, whether it costs $20K to $40K; Mr. Limpert’s question was:
have there been any problems this past summer? Ms. Steele said that she never signs in; she comes
in four or five times a week. A few other people said that they did not sign in this evening. Mr.
Limpert said that the people should have been stopped and asked Mr. DiSalvo to look into the
matter. Mr. DiSalvo said at the very least people need to be tracked for usage anyway. Mr.
Kelley said that this is all post 911 and that first and foremost there should be funds for this.

Tennis HVAC

Mr. Limpert reported that the tennis HVAC installation was put out for bid. A number of
companies picked up bid packages. There was one bid received back. They are within ten
percent of what was the engineering estimates, less than ten percent over what we plan on paying.
The Rec Department does have some money to spend for the hockey doors in back which came in
considerably less than estimated, so now it’s going before the Board of Controls for its decision
on whether the bid should be awarded for the company that submitted the bid for the two
HVACs. One thing that Mr. Limpert was pleased about of the five or six that took it out, he is
glad it is with a company that has had experience with the City. All reports seem to be that other
areas are very happy with the job they do, so that will be with the Board of Controls tomorrow.
This should be accomplished by the first part of October.

This concluded the Report of the Safety Director.
Page 14
