Minutes of a Meeting of the
North Olmsted Parks and Recreation Commission
September 12, 2005

the proposal for the North Olmsted High School to install a temporary fence at Diamond #1
subject to the review and approval by the appropriate representatives of both the City’s Building
Department and Parks and Recreation. Mr. Kelley asked if all those in favor would signify by an
aye. All members of the Commission signified with an aye after a call by the Secretary, Mr.
Baxter noting that he certainly supports the Schools and hopes that they also support the Park and
the Park issues and, to the extent they can help develop the Park into other uses, not just ball
fields, he votes yes. The Motion passed unanimously.

Mr. Carras thanked the Members of the Commission for its cooperation, stating it was greatly
appreciated by the Schools and the kids, and had to leave for another engagement. Before
leaving, he asked when the matter would go to meeting. Mr. Limpert replied that it would be on
the Agenda of the Rec Committee of Council on September 13, 2005. The first reading may be
the first meeting in October. Mr. Limpert said that he wasn’t sure what legislation was required
or how many readings were necessary, but the next regularly scheduled Council meeting will be
th
on the 20, and he could bring it to Mr. Miller’s attention as to whether it goes through legislation
or whether it can simply be reviewed in Committee to find out if they have no objection. In that
th
case it will be September 27. If the legislative route was used, it could be suspended on second
th
reading, which would be October 4, but he thought Council would like to hear it once through in
th
Committee, which would be the 27. That would be best speculation. Mr. Lasko said that if the
visitors wanted to call the Clerk’s office (Barb Seaman) at 777-8000 she would have information.
Mr. Carras asked if anyone from the Rec Commission would be present at the reading to
represent the Commission. Mr. Limpert said that he would be present. Mr. Carras asked Mr.
Limpert if he would let Council know that time is of the essence in this matter because the bids
are already overdue; the Schools must get new bids and the fence is desired by fall. Mr. DiSalvo
provided business cards for any visitors who wanted to e-mail him to process information to City
Hall.

This concluded the Visitors’ Opportunity to Address the Commission. Ms. Steele stayed for the
remainder of the meeting.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES

Minutes of June and August 2005

Ms. Kanis made a Motion to accept the Minutes from June 6, 2005; Ms. Jones seconded. There
being no objection, the Minutes from June 6, 2005 were passed unanimously. Ms. Jones made a
Motion to accept the Minutes from August 1, 2005; Ms. Kanis seconded. There being no
objection, the Minutes from August 1, 2005 were passed unanimously.

SUB COMMITTEE REPORTS

None.
Page 9
