Minutes of a Meeting of the
North Olmsted Parks and Recreation Commission
September 12, 2005

REPORT OF THE RECREATION COMMISSIONER

Currently Finalizing the Procedures with the Finance Director and Personnel Director for
the Purchase and Implementation of Facility Management Software.

Mr. DiSalvo said that his report would be brief. The Rec Department is currently finalizing the
procedures with the Finance Director and Personnel Director for the purchases and
implementation of facility management software. This is one item that has been approved on
$35,000 in capital. In midstream the rep left the company, so there is now a new company. The
Rec wants to make sure everything is in place with what was told to us about two months ago.
Hopefully, that will move along. At best, installation will take place in November or December.
Training of staff will begin the first of the year. This will help with our registration and scheduling
to get us up to date instead of by-hand in triplicate.

DJ Friday Night Open Skate Begins this Friday, September 16, 2005, and Will Run
Through mid-May 2006.

The Rec Center is all geared up and ready to go with the DJ Friday Night Open Skate. This is a
great revenue generator for the Rink Department, as well as offering the kids of North Olmsted
and neighboring cities a safe and fun place to go on Friday nights.

Greater Cleveland Sports Commission LaCrosse Tournament Scheduled for October 15
and 16, 2005 at Barton/Bradley Park.

As a reminder, the Greater Cleveland Sports Commission’s LaCrosse Tournament is scheduled
thth
for October 15 and 16 this year at Barton/Bradley Park. The Rec Center is looking forward to
that event. In July of ’06 the Commission plans on posting an international tournament. The Rec
is building on that relationship and looking forward to that as well.

HVAC Units

As Safety Director Duane Limpert, Tom Stein and myself know, in addition to the work that
needs to be done with the Tennis HVAC, the Rec Department currently has three HVAC units
that are hooked up to the pool locker room, the pool classroom and the gymnastics room that are
approaching 16 years. This is not necessarily a red flag, they are all in decent working condition,
but in the years to come those will need to go through an RFP process to be replaced. That is the
normal maintenance program.
Page 10
