Minutes of a Meeting of the
North Olmsted Parks and Recreation Commission
April 3, 2006
Page Eleven

NEW BUSINESS

Diamond #1 Baseball Fence

Mr. DiSalvo said that in the Revocable License Agreement between the City of North Olmsted and the
North Olmsted School District, it states:

“The School District agrees that it shall, for each year that this license is in effect, provide the City
with advance written notice of the beginning and ending dates of its baseball season, and shall
thereafter install and take down the fence on the dates that are in turn provided to the School District
for installation and take down by the City’s Recreation Commissioner.”

What the Commissioner is asking the Rec Commission is that it is agreed that the fence is coming
down at the end of the baseball season. This is to clarify so that Hot Stove understands what is
happening with that fence. The fence must come down for All Scouts Weekend.

Mr. Barker said it was discussed heavily in the Council Committee meeting, but it was in agreement
that the schools presented it to Council that they will put a two day notice up and down. If the City
wants it up longer, it’s not a problem to them. Mr. Barker agrees one hundred percent that it should
come down when the Recreation Commissioner specifies, and it should be down before the All Scouts
Weekend. There is another member of the Rec Committee of Council here who will agree with this.
Mr. Baxter said that there is more than just All Scouts, it’s a question of green space.
Mr. Baxter also noted that the fence went up without any consideration of this Commission.

Mr. Barker suggested that Mr. DiSalvo review this matter with the Safety Director as well.

Mr. Kelley said that the ball diamonds are not to be used on All Scouts Weekend, and no lights are to
be used. Mr. DiSalvo said this was understood.

Community Council

Ms. Jones said that, if the members of the Commission remember, Community Council wants to put
up electricity and/or water at the Pavilion and to buy some picnic benches for the homecoming to put
in around the rides – then the Park will use the benches the rest of the year and will bring them back to
Council. They are buying six picnic benches, and the City will take care of them. At one time the City
Foundation was going to split the cost of electric and water; now she understands the Foundation can
only give Council $1,000. Community Council opts to buy the electricity, which costs $11,969 for the
Pavilion. Mr. DiSalvo knows about this. Mr. DiSalvo said he is meeting with Donna and Mayor
th
Musial on April 14 to finalize this matter.

Page 11
