Minutes of a Meeting of the
North Olmsted Parks and Recreation Commission
August 7, 2006
Page Three

Ms. Jones asked who will be offering the training. Mr. DiSalvo and Ms. Drenski said that the sales
reps offer training through their company; they did not know the details of exactly how long it will
take, but follow-up training will be offered as well via telephone.

Mr. Dailey said the company has representatives who will be able to walk the Rec Department
employees through any problems that may be had.

Public Meeting for the Recreation Master Plan

Mr. DiSalvo reported that there will be a public meeting for the North Olmsted Recreation Master
Plan on August 17, 2006, and asked the members of the Commission to attend. At that point, there
will be a number of different scenarios to build new or repair the Rec facilities. It will all boil down to
what the people want. Mr. Barker asked who would be making the ultimate decision. Mr. DiSalvo
said that the community’s input is the most important. That will weigh heavily on whatever decision
the Rec Department takes. Ultimately, it’s an administrative decision. Mr. Barker asked what would
happen if many members of the public do not fit in with the plans offered; that is, are there new plans
offered. Does the administration come up with a new plan? Mr. DiSalvo said that what’s on the table
makes the choice. These plans verify financial and feasibility concerns, and the Rec is dealing with
what the people of North Olmsted want.

Mr. Garrity asked if there would be a hard copy available for the Hockey Club. Unfortunately, he
continued, that is the main meeting night for the Hockey Club. He was told to send a representative to
the High School where the Rec meeting was being held.

Mr. Garrity asked if the Plan would be displayed at the Homecoming. Mr. Dailey replied that it would
be in the Homecoming area as well so that people can get a good look at it. There are a number of
plans with a lot of thought going into them (e.g., in this facility alone: new hockey rink; refurbishing;
no rink; tennis.) Mr. DiSalvo said that many non-residents use the tennis facility more so than the
hockey rink.

Mr. Baxter asked if all of the above would revolve around financial ability. The Commissioner said
that is the bottom line; Mr. Dailey agreed - $4,000,000 for a refurbishment up to, perhaps,
$30,000,000 or more for a new facility. The plans are broad enough that they appeal to a wide range
of people.

Mr. Baxter said that his main concern is that there would be people attending the meeting who would
understand, and then there would be a levy or vote to pass what’s needed. Those people who weren’t
there or who aren’t interested, for whatever reason, would be the issue. Getting support for it is a
different matter.
Page 3
