Minutes of a Meeting of the
North Olmsted Parks and Recreation Commission
December 4, 2006

invited, while they were waiting to play, to have soda and hot dogs. Ms. Powell said that this kid of
public relations is important, because our philosophy has been to look at smaller things and smaller
projects; nothing on any large scale, but the Rec can do things to make improvements to make people
feel better. She gave a big thanks to Ted DiSalvo and Betsy Drenski. She asked if there was any way
of recognizing the improvement in job attitude. Mr. DiSalvo said that it took some time to see that
the maintenance crew became more flexible, since they were used to having work orders on paper
alone. That is what is making things better. Ms. Drenski said that Jason and Jim have been able to
communicate better, which works better with the crew. Mr. DiSalvo thanked the visitors for their
compliments. Mr. Garrity noted that everyone is trying to make it better so that more people come to
the Rec Center.

NEW BUSINESS

Ms. Thomas asked if there could be a maintenance checklist for the Skate Park, in writing, as to what
should be done weekly, monthly and yearly. The Chairman said this could be done as a request to Mr.
DiSalvo. Mr. Kelley said that doesn’t necessarily mean it will go across the board to Council. Ms.
Thomas also had a question on fundraising on city property – perhaps she would have to ask Mr.
Dailey. Mr. Kelley said it would be between Mr. Dailey and the Council Representative, Mr. Barker.
They would be the ones to ask. Mr. Lasko said that Jim Dubelko, Law Department, would be the one
to address any fundraising questions. Mr. DiSalvo said to please follow the chain of authority. Mr.
Garrity said that there are legal issues that must be addressed in fundraising issues. For example, the
poker nights that Jeff Marshall did, the NOHC members paid for their bills, and their bills are $800 to
$900; the Cleveland Edges bills are double the NOHC because they do not have as many members.
Mr. Garrity told Ms. Thomas that she could work it and pay for her bill. What the NOHC has been
fighting with in its Club is that it’s hard to get two clubs together. The ideal is to benefit the whole;
but, as you know, it’s a hard problem to solve.

ADJOURNMENT OF MEETING

Upon Motion made by Mr. Lasko, duly seconded by Ms. Kanis and unanimously approved,
the meeting adjourned at 7:48 p.m. The next meeting of the North Olmsted Parks and
Recreation Commission will be January 8, 2007.

Accepted and Approved:

________________________________________________________________________
William D.
