Minutes of a Meeting of
The North Olmsted Parks and Recreation Commission
October 2, 2006
Page Five

this is only as good as the follow-up, so if the City is not checking, all is for nothing. The City wants
to make sure that the Rec Department Maintenance Department is as strong as it can be.

Ms. Jones asked Mr. Dailey what else he encompassed as Community Life Services Director. Mr.
Dailey said it included Springvale, Senior Center, Food Cupboard, and Volunteer Projects.

OLD BUSINESS

I.D.

Ms. Jones asked about the I.D. for the Recreation Commission members. Mr. DiSalvo said that there
will be no specific Rec Commission I.D.; however, a resident I.D. will be issued. The I.D. program
will start the week of October 9, 2006. Ms. Drenski reported to Ms. Jones that all supervisors have
been trained, and today was the first day Ms. Drenski started with the front desk personnel. Jenny
Couts and Ms. Drenski developed a manual to help with the training. At first the personnel were a
little nervous to learn to new system, but they seem to be picking up on it well. By November 1,
2006, the front desk should be in full operation with the new system. Mr. DiSalvo said there was a
flow chart produced to show a step-by-step process that will need done on the new computer.

Ms. Drenski said that City Hall has the camera at the current time; next month the Commission

members will be able to get resident I.D. cards.

Swimming Pass

Mr. Barker reported that he received a call from a resident who was overwhelmed by the price
increase for his swimming pass. Mr. Barker explained to him that the Commission went through a lot
of discussion and did a lot of research, and it was voted on by Council to approve the rates. Basically,
Mr. Barker thought the resident was looking for some help to get a discount. However, he was
informed that unless he was a senior citizen, there was nothing that could be done. The resident
compared North Olmsted to Westlake and understood that he would have to move to Westlake to use
the Westlake facilities. After some discussion, the resident calmed down. He said he used the facility
most days, which surprised Mr. Barker that he did not hear about a rate increase because he was sure
it was discussed among the pool patrons. Ms. Jones asked the cost of the passes. Mr. DiSalvo said he
was not sure of the exact price, but that the prices, if broken down on a daily basis, the highest price
did not exceed 60 cents a day compared to a $3.50 admission, so admission is still reasonable.

Ms. Drenski said when the I.D. system is put into place, there will be a monthly pass issued from that
day, whereas currently it is the calendar month. This will make it clear monthly or quarterly. The new
system will make many of the patrons happier.
Page 5
