Minutes of a Meeting of the
North Olmsted Parks and Recreation Commission
June 2, 2008

SUB COMMITTEE REPORTS
None

REPORT OF THE RECREATION COMMISSIONER

Financial Statements

Mr. DiSalvo asked the Commission members if the letter sent to all on May 6, 2008 made sense to
everyone. By the time we had the Recreation Commission meeting, numbers are not closed out, and
by the time he had reported on numbers at the Commission meeting there was an additional $21,000 in
income; it’s like reporting everything a month later. He would like to report to everyone the correct
numbers after they are finalized instead of constantly make the report and change it. In this report,
there is really nothing in Finance to report.

Spring Ice Show

The Spring Ice Show was a complete success, to report an all-time paid admission attendance record.
On Friday, there were 359 patrons; on Saturday, the show brought in 497, and on the last day, the
show brought in 510. They also had an all-time high as far as participants when they had over 160 and
2007 saw 100 participants.

Summer Camp

th
Summer camp begins Monday, June 9, and currently we have 218 campers registered for session one.

Outdoor Pool

th
The outdoor pool officially opens on Monday, June 9 as well, and the outdoor pool filter is working
well. If anyone would like to see that after the meeting, Mr. DiSalvo would be happy to show it.

Independence Day Parade

Just a reminder: the Independence Day Parade, Bike Contest and Picnic event is scheduled for Friday,
July 4, 2008. The parade will begin at 10:30 and, as usual, everyone is welcome to attend. Mr.
Dailey said that this year would be more fun – the City is going with a different band and different
performers. There will also be 500 hot dogs this year, upped from the 400 last year.

This concluded the report of the Commissioner of Recreation, and he asked if there were any
questions.
Page 2
