Minutes of a Meeting of the
North Olmsted Parks and Recreation Commission
June 2, 2008

at this time until we know what’s going on with the rest of the Park’s projects. Mr. Scarl did not
imagine that patching that small of an area should not cost that much, and perhaps it could be done
this summer. Mr. DiSalvo asked if the work was done in-house or contracted. Mr. Dailey said it
would be done in-house – when the walking path at Clague Park was done, it was done in-house,
wasn’t it? Mr. DiSalvo said it was contracted out – it was United Paving; there was money in the
account that someone donated, but that could only go to Clague Park. Mr. Dailey said that he
expected Hot Stove to hear from the City some time this week.

Grant for Ramp for Ice Skating

Mr. Dailey said that Julie Nader and her late husband Mike had the ramp put in at the Rec Center for
ice skating. Ms. Nader said it was three or four years ago.

ADA Restrooms at Park

The ADA Restrooms at the Park were closed down for a few days. There was a blockage in the lines
through the Senior Center. The Waste Water Treatment Plant came out and were able to get them
cleaned out.

Vandalism at Park

Mr. Dailey said that there has been some vandalism lately at the Community Council Gazebo toward
the bottom of the hill that Tom Stein e-mailed us about – some graffiti, etc. – the same type of
problem that we had last year when the NOPD came to help us out with the other problems that we
had. Mr. Scarl said that the patrols aren’t like they were last year – he would like to see those patrols
better, since he’s been umpiring at games and noticing kids (not residents) causing the problems. One
night the police came and chased about four of them running right through the game. Mr. Scarl
reiterated that if the police would make an effort like they did last year, much of that vandalism would
go away.

Mr. Baxter said that years ago the auxiliaries would walk the Park – do they still do that? Mr. Dailey
said there still are auxiliaries. Mr. Scarl said that last year they used the auxiliaries in the police cars,
but they are auxiliaries. Mr. Dailey said he would make sure he would talk to the Mayor and Safety
Director tomorrow and step up some presence out there again.

Diamond #1 Fence

Mr. Baxter wanted to acknowledge that the fence at Diamond #1 was taken down today. He only said
that because it was a very hot topic a few years back with the Commission with the fence being
erected and when it would be coming down, and he was glad the promises are being kept that it would
be taken down, and it was. He was very happy about that. Mr. Dailey said that again, it goes
Page 5
