Minutes of a Meeting of the
North Olmsted Parks and Recreation Commission
September 8, 2008

NEW BUSINESS

Increase of Revenue

Mr. Dailey said the City and the Rec will be looking at ways to increase revenue which might be
changing the fee structure for the summer camp programs. There will be an increase of rates for ice
rental, and have it built in incrementally every year from now on. We will be working with Betsy to
set up a fee structure for Edges and the Warriors, for example. Mr. Dailey reported that some things
we will be considering doing will be closing down the Rec Center on Sundays from June through the
first or second week in August before skate starts back up. We looked at the numbers from this past
year, and we lose money every Sunday we are open. We’ll save on staffing. Mr. DiSalvo said that the
toughest thing is that the open times for pool will not generate significant income, except in the
mornings, Ms. Drenski said, with the seniors. That’s where we’re not offsetting anything. Mr. Dailey
considered shutting down the rink from June through August, but he thinks we generate money overall
during the summer months, so it wouldn’t make sense to do that. Anywhere we can look; we have to
look at things differently from now on. We even have to look at the price of natural gas going up –
we use a lot of natural gas here.

Mr. Groden asked if there was any other business to come before the meeting. There being none, the
meeting adjourned.

ADJOURNMENT OF MEETING

After Motion duly made, seconded, and unanimously approved, the meeting adjourned at
7:42 p.m. The next scheduled meeting of the North Olmsted Parks and Recreation
Commission will be October 6, 2008.

Accepted and Approved:

______________________________________________
Terry Groden, Chairperson

______________________________________________
Judith A. Ptacek-Roche, Secretary

Date: _____________________________
Page 8
