Minutes of a Meeting of the
North Olmsted Parks and Recreation Commission
September 14, 2009

do it because there was a lot of miscommunication and communication about who should and
shouldn’t be responsible. That’s the way the Committee recommended approval as amended, with
those three changes. The school will also store the fence. Mr. Groden asked if this was all approved
by the School Board. It hasn’t been yet. It will go there next. What happens there, too, is that, even
st
though there is flexibility to leave the fence up until the 31 of July, we are reviewing internally to see
how it worked out. If everyone wraps up their season and the school wants to take it down earlier,
obviously they can. One of the perks this past year, Mr. Dailey said, is that they did increase permit
th
fees and revenues. We don’t charge the Scouts; they only use it over the 4 of July weekends; and
NOSO doesn’t pay fees. We still have more money than we would normally have had. We’ll see how
it works out. We’re pleased with the conversations with Council. We’re looking forward to working
with the School; if it doesn’t make sense to them, we can take it up and bring it down. Mr. Mahoney
said that he said at the Committee meeting that the reason he proposed the legislation and had it
drafted the way it was was that it would come down at the end to what the High School needed. At
least now, as Mr. Gareau, Jr., pointed out, there is clarity and specificity. The issue is, hopefully,
resolved.

Mr. Groden asked if there was any other New Business. There being none, there was a Motion to
Adjourn.

ADJOURNMENT OF MEETING

After Motion made by Mr. Scarl, seconded by Mr. Mahoney, and unanimously approved, the
meeting adjourned at 7:50 p.m. The next scheduled meeting of the North Olmsted Parks and
Recreation Commission is scheduled for October 5, 2009.

Accepted and Approved:

_____________________________________________
Terry Groden, Chairperson

______________________________________________
Judith A. Ptacek-Roche, Secretary

Date: _____________________________

Page 10
