Recreation Commission Meeting
November 3, 2003

understanding the reason the ice times are available is because they have two sheets, one for
hockey and one for skating and the times that are available are better for the groups. For
example, a group can be on the ice at 9:00 instead of 11:00 or 12:00, and they're home at a decent
hour. That seems to be the basis for the change, but Mr. DiSalvo thinks there must be more to
the situation, particularly since drive time and extra cost must be considered. Time's running
short, and the North Olmsted Rec Department is working on this matter.

Mr. Baxter then noticed a difference in the September 2003 Month-to-Date Income Statement
and the 2003 Income Statement. He said that the figures are not the same due to sales tax. On
the back sheet it appears $843.13 is collected sales tax, a positive number, and then (836.81) is a
negative number after the discount. For some reason, this is not presented in a correct manner on
the front sheet. The (843.13) should be a positive number on the front sheet and the (836.81) on
the back sheet makes for a difference in totals. In any event, clearly, if the numbers are sales taxes
collected, there shouldn't be brackets around them.

Mr. DiSalvo said that he knows that the Rec is saving a lot on expenses. According to the year-
to-date figures for all total revenue, the Rec is about $70,000 behind. There are hundreds of
thousands of dollars encumbered, and the Rec Department must know for sure how far ahead the
figures are. These figures should be available some time this week and will be available for next
month's meeting. In the columns of expenses, only 50% has been used in many instances. As a
guess, the Commissioner would say that about $300,000 has been saved.

The Commissioner then asked for questions for the income report. Mr. Baxter asked about the
th
vending/arcade machines. Mr. DiSalvo reported that there is a November 12 deadline for bids.

Sports Organization Report, October 27, 2003

Mr. DiSalvo then read verbatim the above report, attached hereto.

North Olmsted Hot Stove Baseball League, October 15, 2003

Mr. DiSalvo then read verbatim the above report, attached hereto. He stated that the meeting
went well; but that both sides do not know what exactly should be done.

Documentation back and forth from Hot Stove and Committee Council Meetings and an E-Mail
from Mr. Jesse as documentation the City has on the matter was then passed around the members
of the Commission for their review, copy attached.

North Olmsted Hockey Club, October 17, 2003

Mr. DiSalvo then read verbatim the above report, attached hereto. In this case, the Rec has
something going on with the NOHC; it's just not documented.
Page 3
