Recreation Commission Meeting
September 8, 2003
Page Twelve

Miscellaneous

Ms. Jones said that someone asked her why the school bus was used to take the employees to
City Hall for the safety awareness meeting. Mr. DiSalvo said that the Rec Center paid for it, and
that it was also a liability concern.

Mr. Jesse reported that the maneuverability course issue is dead because of insurance/liability
issues. Both the City’s insurance carrier and Law Department decided this matter.

As regards the nature trail and trail ID’s, Mr. Jesse reported that these are still a work in
progress.

Ms. Jones and Ms. Kanis both told Mr. DiSalvo that the Recreation Department employees
were a credit to the Department as regards Homecoming and NOSO. There were no chances
taken at Homecoming with the rides as regards safety. Ms. Jones said The City gets a
percentage of the rides, and it must be over $30,000 that they sell for 30%. This year was the
first year in about ten years that the City got the percentage. The final total was about $31,000,
so the the City got 30%. Anything under $30,000, the City would get 20%. There were no
complaints about the Gravitron being shut down for safety reasons, and the weather cooperated
with no rain.

MOTION TO ADJOURN

After Motion was made and duly seconded, all were in favor, and the Meeting adjourned
at 9:05 p.m.

Accepted and Approved:

________________________________________________________________________
Claire Hayes, Chairman

________________________________________________________________________
Judith A. Ptacek-Roche, Secretary

Date: _____________________________

Page 12
